"Beyond Folly is a great collection of insightful, humorous stories, filled with wonderful characters and memorable scenes and situations." ----C.E. Lukather, The Writing Disorder
"Fun, funny, and acutely observed, Beyond Folly is the book for anyone who has ever substitute taught, or even just thought about it." ----Adam Wilson, author of Flatscreen
"The further one reads in Beyond Folly, the more one comes to understand the choreography behind its farcical panoply of strange characters in absurd circumstances. As with A Confederacy of Dunces, the deadpan, staggering weirdness of it all is a veil to cover piercing insight into how we deal with being human, tribal, and hopeful." ----Robert Lieberman, Conte

I absolutely loved this book and all the characters surrounding the main character, Horton. The author clearly shows the reader the absurdity of each character and circumstance, and creatively gives us the opportunity to meld with Horton as he interacts with each and every one of his colleagues and students.
The book takes place in San Francisco, CA.,and again, the author transported us to this "hotbed of loony" via the San Francisco Unified School District.
I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone the wants to laugh their sox off and "meet" the unique fictional characters that represent the Sub's.
Beyond Folly is a MUST read.
Each story contains familiar characters we have all encountered--the self-important boss, the incompetent assistant, the useless bureaucrat. All are woven cleverly into the ever lively background of the raucous classroom. Deandreis nails the impertinent lingo of the young punks, the jargon-laden nonsense of academics, and every other niche character throughout. Beyond Folly offers a fresh glimpse into our rapidly changing society with laughs aplenty cover to cover.
