Now to the bigger, and more important issues in the book. The writing is adequate, but on a simplistic level. Friendship and our relationship to God is a very important topic, but the platitudes and "baby step" sort of stuff this book offers did not encourage me to grow deeper in my faith. Instead, it felt like a rehash of old and tired cliches. "There is a friendship shaped hole in you that only God can fill." Wow, how unoriginal.
Sorry if this review seems harsh. Perhaps my experience with just holding the weird book cover tainted what I think of the text, but it just did not work for me. Perhaps had I read it as a kindle I would have liked it better? I doubt it.
Simple and easy read. Anyone from 8 years and up can zip through he book.
It does have sets of "friendship exercises" at the end of each chapter. That might be good for middle school kids, or for those brand new to Christianity.
The cover material is just annoying and ruins the reading experience.
The book is way too simplistic and nebulous.
Not as much biblical reflections as I expected. Sure the author writes things like, "Reflect on Bible passage _____" but he does very little explaining, exposition, or in detail discussion. Far more of the author's text are just written up ponderings and muttering by Trevor Hudson.
For the text of the book I give it a C grade. But add on the goofy paper cover and the book gets an F
