Currently living outside Missoula, Montana, Kat Martin is the New York Times bestselling author of over seventy-five Historical and Contemporary Romantic Suspense novels. Book one of this Texas Trilogy introduces Linc and Carly. Carly is the granddaughter of Joe who owned a shipping company. After his death Carly comes back to Texas to run the company. At her grandfathers funeral she meet Linc. Once a troubled youth with a prison sentence behind him he is now a very wealthy businessman. As the two of them dig into the trucking business they discover a man planning to use this trucking company for his nefarious deeds. Linc and Carly work together to find this El Jefe.

This was a romantic/suspense novel. Carly and Linc were very active in rooting out the danger and staying alive. Chemistry was immediate but conversation about them never happened. Carly assumed Linc would never remarry plus she was a nobody. Linc found himself in love and sort of surprised. Thankfully there were only a few pages of them being stupid. I like the brief glimpses of Linc’s partner Beau. He is book two.

Wow, this is a great book and I couldn’t put it down. This is one of my favorite authors, I often re read her books. I loved how Carly fought her attraction to Linc. He promised her deceased Grandfather he’d look after her. This book also kept me on edge. This book had everything, blackmail, terrorist, kidnapping, F.B.I. involvement too. Had some tears especially towards the end. Loved how possessive and protective Linc is towards Carly too. I felt for her as she falls for him but fears he’ll leave, she doesn’t believe marriages work out. It’s very emotional and loved feeling so much in this book. So happy with their happy ever after. I highly recommend this book.

Beyond Reason: The Texas Trilogy Book 1 is by Kat Martin. This is a contemporary romance set in Texas. It has all the intrigue that Texas is partial to. It has shootouts, smuggling, drug dealing, murder, and revenge all wrapped up in a romance. It is easy to read and is one of those books you just hate to put down. Once more, Kat Martin has outdone herself.
Carly Drake had come home too late to be with her Grandpa Joe before he died; but she was here to get his trucking company back on its feet. The death of Miguel Hernandez, their best driver, left a huge hole in the company. Carly was determined to figure out a way to keep the company afloat and pay checks written. At Miguel’s funeral, she was introduced to Lincoln Cain who said he wanted to talk to her. He had worked for Grandpa Joe when he was out of high school and owed him. Grandpa Joe had asked Lincoln to watch over Carly and help her as needed. Linc took that promise to heart.
When Carly refuses to sell the trucking company, Linc sets out to help her. He loans her money and in going over her records, his accountant found someone had been embezzling from Grandpa Joe. Which of Joe’s employees could it be and why?
Then Carly gets a call from El Jefe. He wants to use her trucking company to haul his goods. He doesn’t tell her anything about what he is hauling but lets her know that someone will be hurt if she doesn’t obey. What is Carly to do and who is she to turn to?

Beyond Reason was the first book by Kat Martin that I have read. It was an Amazon recommendation, and I bought the entire Texas Trilogy series. It was a great book. I loved every moment it. Just the right amount of romance and thrill. It had wonderful, believable characters. The story is about Carly Drake, the owner of Drake Transport with the death of her grandfather Joe, three months ago. Prior to his death, Joe asks Lincoln Cain, a bad boy turned good and owner of his own multi-million dollar company to watch over Carly is something should happen to him. It was lust as first sight for Carly and Linc and things moved very quickly between them. Both Carly and Linc have been hurt in the past by people who professed that they loved them. Carly is very wary of marriage and happily ever afters. Will this fear cause her to lose her one great chance of happiness. There are life and death moments in the book that were so very thrilling to read. And a surprise plot twist near the end that I did not see coming. It was a wonderful book. so glad I took the recommendation. Now onto Beyond Danger

Since I began reading chapter books as a kid, I've read book descriptions that say things like "page turner" and "you won't be able to put this one down". No matter how good each book was, and some have been really good, they never lived up to the hype in the description. This one does. If you're looking for a really well written novel, that you literally don't want to put down after Chapter 1, then this is it. I won't spoil it for you because you need to be experience it for yourself. Now, this isn't a great work of literature, but in my opinion most of those are boring, but if you want a book that you will enjoy, this is it. So, read it for yourself. Enjoy Linc and Carly as much as I did and then wait patiently for the next book in the series to come out in January. It should be a real page turner as well. Enjoy!
