About the Author

After writing for years yet never really finding the right inspiration, Keira discovered her voice in gay romance, which has become a passion. She writes contemporary, historical, paranormal and fantasy fiction, and--although she loves delicious angst along the way--Keira firmly believes in happy endings. In Andrews’s novel, both heroes are stranded on islands long before that’s literally true. One man is a reluctant part of a boy band, dutifully letting himself be shuttled through life in a glass hamster wheel, plastering on a smile while the paparazzo click away. The other is a celebrated pilot hero unable to process his survivor guilt, shutting himself off from the world to the point it’s almost dangerous. Neither one of them in any way is repressing their sexuality or orientation. Both have had relationships with women, and they’ve been real relationships, not disappointing attempts where everything felt wrong, especially once they opened up to the idea of being with a man.

This means when they do fall for one another, it’s all the more magical. Their relationship isn’t about orientation but about connection. It’s not about surrendering identity but shedding old lives to make new ones. About finding themselves and each other amidst a harrowing ordeal—talk about a tale of hope! Beyond the Sea allows us to imagine we too can sail past our boundaries and into the ocean of our own happily ever after.

Highly recommended.

A good solid three star novel. The sluggishly dry writing, and anticlimactic plot brought it down to three.

In fact, the only dramatic moment would be the actual plane crash. Soon after that, Andrews fell into the often times annoying habit of going step by step, day by day scene plotting. About 26% into the book she finally did some bit of time jumping, which helped a little but not much. Would have been nice if Andrews shown the men exploring the island and jungle more, instead of telling us. She did however, give us one semi-thrilling moment involving one of the characters going in it, and having a life threatening dilemma happen, but atlas, everything sort of went to dulls-ville afterwards. The angst the two characters had about their past was pretty much meh as well. Although, I could have made a drinking game out of the number of times Andrews mentioned the characters drinking water, it certainly would have liven it up a bit for this reader. :)

As for the descriptive sex the reviewer below mentioned, I found it tastefully done. Andrews didn't jump right into the sex and insta love, which was appreciated and refreshing. In fact the men didn't do anything until about 63% into the novel. However, I can see why the reviewer wanted more depth with them actually falling in love. Perhaps Andrews should have gotten them off that island sooner so she could have done that.

All in all...nice summer read on the beach, but not in a 4.99 sort of way. It's more a 3.50 type of book in my opinion.

I'm waiting to read something by Keira that isn't a five star read. Not this time. Another awesome hit in my opinion.
I loved the slow development of the relationship and the fact that the good sex came only after a deep and abiding friendship had started. This was a true romance and left me with fluttery feelings of happiness.
Although the epilogue tied up the end nicely, I just loved Brian and Troy so much that I'd be ecstatic to read a sequel.

This book started with a bang. Troy is fed up with his brother and other band mates so he charters a jet to get the hell away from everyone. One of the pilots of that jet is Brian who doesn't have the highest opinion of boy banders.

Then tragedy strikes and their stranded on a remote island alone. I was shocked at how handy Brian was in this situation. Their emergency pack was like a kit that should have been labeled "Getting stranded for Dummies". That sucker had everything! Anyways, until about 50% we're just living on the island with them surviving.

Then things get interesting and very sexy. It was so nice to finally get some action and the way they took care of each other and worked together was amazing. One morning they're happily snuggled down in their tee pee and the next moment all hell breaks loose. Rescued!

So now how do they deal with being back in the real world? Do they stay together? Can they? I just loved that everything wasn't perfect and they had a really hard time adjusting. Made everything seem more genuine.

We didn't get a whole lot of angst or stupid disagreements but we did get an amazing love story and the best nickname ever! Bongbong....I'm going to call my daughter that now.

This story just grabs you and keeps you enthralled. I cannot even put into words what I feel for this book. The suspense on the deserted island, the growing camaraderie, dealing with their bad past, all of these led up to an incredible love story that will stick with me for a very long time. I cannot recommend this enough. Another incredible Keira Andrews book.

Unique background story and concept. A twenty-something pop star with lots of family and friends, and a thirty-something American pilot now living and working in Australia. Troy charted the flight from Australia back to the states and the weather turned bad, forcing the pilot to crash land on an uninhabited island. Being stuck on the island made it so they had to rely on each other, they were the only two people in the world. The relationship evolved into something neither expected, but they both decided to go with it and not question things too much. Eventually they're rescued and thrust back into the life they had before. But they're both changed men now and they miss what they had on the island, but they're unsure if the other feels the same way. Fun read. I would have liked some more time with them once they got back together, but there was an epilogue 4 years later, which was nice to have.
