“Nicholus does a beautiful job of presenting actions that can be done with the jQuery library, and showing source code to complete the same actions without jQuery. … This book is worth reading by anyone who’d like an overview of the plumbing behind jQuery, or who wants to dive into ways of accomplishing tasks with jQuery.” (Computing Reviews, September, 2017)

Not so. This book shows you just how simple it is to work with the DOM, to the point where I'm wondering why people use jquery to work with the DOM when in some cases, it is actually easier to use the native DOM API, plus it's more performant.
My suggestion: As you read, run all the code yourself in an editor, play around, experiment, also read the MDN documentation on the DOM. I feel like a bit of an expert now, and I have a lot more confidence with my general HTML knowledge after reading this.
Thank you for creating this book Mr. Nicholus!
