was the land god gave to Anraham and his israelite descendants in Arabia? according to recent linguistic and geographical research, the kingdom of Solomon and david, and the site of the first temple, lie not in Palestine at all but in a fertile coastal strip south of mecca. professor salibi fully expects to be met with virulent opposition in the academic world. if he is correct , centuries of biblical scholarship will collapse, throwing into disarray Israel statehood in the middle east based on the claims to the old testament kingdom

This book opens up your eyes to explore a new thought. Pity no one yet is doing the archaeological work necessary to prove or disprove. However the probability to be wrong seems increasingly low as you read the book.

This book, I can’t say enough about it. The concept, from an orthodox Jewish viewpoint, is earthshaking and still excellently researched & written. And shockingly factual on a historical basis. Not for the weak of belief or kavanah. My orthodox misnaming friends refuse to read it, they can’t get past the first chapter. But they don’t study Kabballah either. Find the book get a copy

The book is almost convincing without archaeological inputs.. However, assuming(me) the Jews called the kings of Egypt by the names of "Pharaon " in imitation of the title of their own kings in Arabia, did they called also the monarchs of other countries by the same name "Pharaon" ?
How did the originals Egyptians call the land of Canaa?

I wanted to get another point of view, more information on the Bible and how it may have come to be. I haven't had a chance to read it yet but plan on starting in next week or the week after.

This book is the gem of Kamal Salibi's scholarly work on which he later built all of his biblical research. According to the notable historian, he had examined all the maps of Palestine as well as the maps of the Hijaz (Western Saudi Arabia) and Assir (north Western Yemen) and has come to the conclusion that the latter map corresponds more accurately to the geography of pre-exile biblical Israel and Judea. Through etymological evidence and by cross-examining the biblical evidence with the scarce accounts of other civilizations, Salibi relocates the map of ancient Israel from Palestine to Arabia. Salibi believes that the names of the villages of modern day Palestine that correspond to biblical names are either by mere coincidence or were a later add on.
The book is perhaps one of the very few that talk about pre-historic Arabian mythology at the time Saudi authorities ban all archaeological expeditions in the region. Salibi was fortunate to have had trips to the area where he examined its culture and geography and sealed off his hypothesis that events of the Old Testament did not take place, as commonly believed, in Palestine but rather on the western Red Sea coast and its corresponding hinterland of Arabia.
Even though Salibi's work has been rejected by many scholars, some due to political reasons, it still provides solid proof and evidence that cannot be matched by those who deny his theory. Future scholarship might one day endorse his hypothesis.

Having read Steve Berry's "The Alexandria Link", I had to know more.
The book is out of print, so it took a long time to find an ex-library copy.
This book caused some controversy on publication to the efect that the Arabian Government has put this area of Arabia out of bounds and bulldozed all that was there.
I wonder what they are afraid of?
Salibi does put forward a very good reasoning for his theory.
Having read some of his other works on the same subject, I do think it is possible that a group of people who have given us the main body of the bible, COULD have come from Arabia.
We must remember that when Moses lead the people out of Egypt they first went to a mountain which is in northern Arabia.
Could this be where tribes met up.
I find biblical history quite interesting and suggest if you feel the same to find Salibi's books and enquire for yourself.
The Bible Came from Arabia
More recently I have been reading Graham Phillips books on the Exodus and Moses and am returning to Salibi as there is a consequence of familiarity of thought and ideas between the two authors thinking!

Following the archaeology this makes sense. Reading books by Wilfred Thesiger on the Arabian sands and 'Empty Quarter' also sheds similar insights.
