Chris Fogle's Biblical Knowledge, Understanding & Wisdom is a look at how these things differ in Scripture—and in life—and why it's important to distinguish them. I may know something, but that doesn't mean I understand it. I may understand it, but have I applied it properly? Showing from various passages of Scripture how God has distinguished these, the author makes the case that His design for us is to comprehend this virtuous cycle and enter into it.

One of the messages I took from reading this is to slow down and consider. That is, think through carefully what God's Word is saying to us, and that in an age where productivity is a holy grail, we need to recognize spiritual maturity takes time. The author refers to milestones rather than "Minute-stones." Building for eternity takes time.

If we are growing in knowledge, understanding, and wisdom it will generate humility in us, and it will cause me to desire more wisdom, more of God. When this happens, I'm in the cycle of spiritual growth. Fogle does a great job explaining not only how this is God's design, but showing how in the seemingly mundane details of life, there are many opportunities to apply this.

I like the sensible and down-to-earth style of this book. I generally stick to straight Bible reading for personal/spiritual growth. I’m glad I was able to take the time to read this book, though. Chris highlights helpful distinctions among the terms knowledge, understand, and wisdom. He purposefully oversimplifies these terms at the beginning of the book (“Knowledge” is facts; “Understanding” is reasoning; “Wisdom” is spiritual application…For practical reasons, we ultimately need to apply the knowledge and understanding we gain, right?), then for the rest of the book he expounds on each of these topics…definitely a lot of food for thought.

Excellent guide to Salvation thru Knowledge/Wisdom/Understanding!

A deeper realization of the truth of the Gospel message and how to live it out in our lives daily was the thing that compelled me most as I read this book. I loved Chris' point that EVERYTHING is to prepare us for Heaven. Scripture is used as the guide throughout this book, providing excellent references for preparation needed to make sure we are moving forward in truth. I loved that it emphasizes using every difficulty we encounter as a stepping stone to get closer to God. Chris points out how we must combine the 3 elements (knowledge, wisdom & understanding) in order to get to the deeper truths and a closer relationship with Christ. It convicts and challenges the reader to let go and let God be the guide and not own ideas. I highly recommend.

A fresh viewpoint on Biblical Knowledge, Understanding and Wisdom

Often times reading about the Bible can be a slog, or worse yet, you can feel put upon or less than worthy to be partaking in the author's great and mighty wisdom and ideas about religion. Fortunately, Mr. Fogle avoids those pitfalls and finds a way to relate with the reader through pop culture and an unpretentious writing style. I have read and talked a lot about the Bible, biblical knowledge, and the best ways to understand Christianity. I often feel that those conversations follow the same pattern and cadence, never reaching new information or providing new perspectives. But this book adds to the generations long conversation in a way that doesn't grow tiresome or pedantic. I happily can give this book five stars and say that I recommend reading it and pondering the issues within.

This book was wonderfully written. It draws you in and makes you think. It is helpful to have your bible near to look up the referenced versus and dig deeper. I loved the 91 freeway reference to the introduction to KUW, it made it easy to relate to. One of the best and relative quotes from the book that I think pertains to everyone "I believe god uses the natural order of KUW to grow us in our everyday lives". I think more now how this happens in my daily lives. Highly recommended.
