Great mystery - romance. Interesting plot with many twists and turns. Well written and kept your interest all the way through.
I love reading a romance book that I don't have to cringe from unwanted explicit sexual scenes.
I thank the author for writing such an entertaining book.

I have to admit, up until a couple of days ago, I had never heard of Rachel Ann Nunes. A mutual friend informed me that Rachel's book, A Bid For Love, had been plagiarized. A book-blogger discovered the plagiary while reviewing an advanced reader copy of the The Auction Deal furnished by Sam Taylor Mullens. Recognizing the work as a plagiary the blogger bravely brought the matter to light before the stolen work was published. Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction so I had to read for myself what started all the drama. Am I glad I did. A Bid For Love is a great read. I despise plagiarists, but in this case, I would like to thank one. It is because of Sam Taylor Mullens that I have discovered a wonderful author. Rachel Ann Nunes has many books, and I look forward to reading them all.

This is the first of three books in a series by this accomplished author. Jared and Cassi are both established buyers for successful art galleries. When they meet at an art auction, the suspenseful story that ensues has numerous twists and turns and was hard to put down. This fast paced novel leaves you wanting for more so I immediately purchased and read the other two books in this series. Being available on Kindle is so great. I was able to read while waiting for grand-kids at the park and while waiting for doctor appointments.

A Bid For Love by Rachel Ann Nunes is a great read. It is the first book in a three book series done by this author. It is LDS romance/suspense. The author develops a love story between two individuals in their late 20"s and early 30's. Both are success in their business lives, but not so much in the love department. As they get caught up in the world of smuggling they are the run from unknown bad guys and also falling for each other along the way. I would recommend this book and series.

This book is a fun, fast read with a bit of romance and suspense to keep you wanting more. It was a hard book to put down. The story ended great, yet leaving the reader ready to read the next book. I can't wait to read the next book in the series now and find out what happens next with Jared and Cassi.

Loved this book. Clean romantic suspense at its best. I've been reading Rachel's books since I was a teenager and have yet to find one I don't enjoy.

Cassi and Jared, two art gallery buyers from opposite ends of the country, meet at a bidding war to buy a bad forgery of Buddha statue for their respective owners' galleries. But the bad guys seem to want that counterfeit buddha too. Cassi and Jared find love on the run as they outwit the bad guys and figure out what's inside the statue that's worth killing for.

Many readers are praising the book because it's a clean, faith-based romance. No smut, swearing or sex--but hey, theft, violence, bloodshed, and murder are OK, right? One reader claimed it was a "good spiritual book," I had to laugh. Nothing particularly spiritual about it (except maybe to have a lot of kids). A pastiche of LDS Christian themes artlessly woven into the storyline, doesn't enhance the story it so it's a tad awkward, but not overbearing. The fiction author's job is not to prosthelitize, or convert the reader, but to remain true to their character's wants and needs. Nunes almost pulls it off but hasn't heard of Faulkner's adage: kill your darlings. Too distracting, a reason to stop reading.

The rather short story (or novella/novelette), is told from the alternating perspective of both Cassie and Jared. However, the somewhat daft but likable characters are flat, and two-dimensional; the plot has a few curious loopholes. Hence the two-star rating. At least Nunes' writing style is solid and lively, her grammatical errors are minimal (TG), and it is an entertainingly light read. Simple summer escape fiction that won't make you think or blink. Not much by way of sizzle though. A light chick lit mystery/ romance that's suitable for teenagers--if the story will hold their attention, that is.

Framed For Love, the second book continues the love story (Cassi and Jared's marriage, and the bad guys want revenge), and Love On The Run (the honeymoon, and other even badder guys) rounds out the trilogy.

I love the combination of action, mystery, and romance. I found this book entriguing. I was constantly guessing the ending and who wanted the statue. Then I would be proven wrong and had to re-hypothsize my guess.
