The mystery was excellent, even though this reader had it partially figured out early on. Why? Because the path to the solution was so darn fun to follow! The setting was absolutely spectacular and this reader struggled to figure out if she wanted to live there, or was creeped out by the darkness of the place... and will admit she shuddered at each mention of spiders. The wedding dress gift given by the griffins to protagonist Lizzie had this reader rolling as she pictured not only Lizzie wearing the gown, but the look on snooty adoptive mom Hillary's face as she looked on. Griffin shifter and romantic lead Dimitri was adorable running from the estrogen packed rooms, even though he is still a strong, masculine, sexy - drool-worthy - protective male. Who can blame him, with so many females creating wedding favors? And each character was unique as their authenticity shined through in their believable dialogue, as well.
This was an action packed, thrilling ride that kept this reader in stitches, waiting for the next disaster to fall. I recall I had a favorite character in book one - Grandma Gertie - but was hard pressed to say I had a favorite in this book. They were all terrific, all lovable in their own way, and each played well off of one another. This reader was so wrapped up in the storyline and descriptions, she cannot recall if there were any grammar, punctuation or spelling issues in the tale, and truly hated to leave the world Fox created. I highly recommend this book for a very fun and entertaining read.
All I an say is I'm glad I don't have Lizzie's mom ad mine, I never would've survived my growing up years...the woman has some serious OCD problems.
Of course we have the biker witches, plus the entire griffin clan, and somewhere well get a novella for Dimitri's sisters.
So enjoy the show & onward to book 6
As I said before, the author has done really well with this book. It was a really creepy, gothic feel to it that I really liked. I think it is the best of the series, and I really hope not the last. Good, light, fun reading with an engaging heroine, the love scenes are hot -- all the things you want in a good, beach read. I'm going to use a new criteria for rating a book: Would I read it again? Yes, yes I would. Gladly. All five of them.
Angie Fox is a unique voice in an overcrowded genre. She has created a fantastic world and filled it with all sorts of inimitable characters. Each story is filled with hilarious dialogue and fun-filled adventure. This latest entry lives up to its predecessors and may even surpass them. I missed Lizzie and her gang and was glad to see them again. I do hope Ms. Fox has plans for us to visit again.
I enjoy the interaction between her biker granny - who is a witch, and her demon fiance. The book is deviously delightful to read, and I truly enjoyed it.
Now I need to wait for another book in the series to come out...could there be a half-demon pregnancy?
