I was twiggy skinny when I was young...nothing to do with healthy eating or not eating. Just genetic. Never had a date as a teen.
All those years of eating and not gaining weight caught up with me as well as more genetic surprises. Eventually in my middle age years between genetics and medications, I ended up a plus size women. I miss being a size 12 but when I read snotty stuff by skinny girl writers who consider size 12 plus and obese (FYI my dear skinny idiots, it is neither), I wonder how all the non-skinny girls today cope with all the media pro-skinny nonsense. So it was so refreshing to read romance for women who eat real food instead of living on diet soda.
Jasinda Wilder, I applaud you.
I was taken on a journey through two young ladies lives from not having anything together, to completely together and having babies and real life problems. With a whole 'lotta sex on the way.
I enjoyed these books. The writing style is addictive and intriguing. Anna, Jamie, Chase and Jeff were all likeable characters. The side characters were interesting as well. This whole series was well done and a fun read.
The only reason they get four stars instead of five, was the sex scenes. There were SO many, and often felt redundant. I understood why they were there, and I'm happy to read a steamy romance, but there was A LOT. But that's what they were about and it made sense, just a little too much for me in two weeks time. Perhaps had I spaced them out, it wouldn't have been quite so apparent.
Jeff and Anna, married for a year, open their gifts from each other after they DJ the governor's Christmas party. Then Anna tells Jeff her big surprise. It has something to do with why she's suddenly drinking water with lemon instead of soda or wine, even though she hates water. A red hot love scene follows.
I read - Big Girls Do It On Christmas - on Christmas eve which added to the fun and uplifting romance of this short sexy story.
If you're looking for a read that is more focused on the sounds, scents, and family gatherings with some hot sex scenes thrown into the mix, this is not that book. If you want a quick, cute, sweet read, BGDIOC will suffice.
