The narratives and narrators are articulate and clear. The lucid explanations of the detailed calculations that preparing for the invasion required are revelatory. Probably I saw something like these films as a child watching movie newsreels in the 1940s, but today they give me a greater sense of who we are (or were) as a nation. These films should be widely distributed, not so much for showing what may have become obsolete warfare methods as for reminding us, if we ever did know, what will always be the need for a kind of camaraderie and humane foresight seldom seen nowdays. Bravo for the filmakers, the archivists, and the men they bring so admirably alive from history.
