I also reviewed the sequel to this, "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey". I remember watching these as a kid, but decided to preview them before showing them to my nephews (10 & 14). I think they must have changed the rating system because I had to double check that these were in fact PG. They say s***, d***, d***weed among other things. There is some mild inappropriate content (their stepmom is just a couple years older than them). It seems strange to say this, but George Carlin wasn't actually a concern in this film. The rest of it is harmless fun. Despite their bonehead behavior, Bill and Ted are kind hearted and treat people "excellent", something I forgot to mention about Bogus Journey. If you are really concerned with the language, it isn't profuse. I'd recommend watching it before showing it to young kids so you can skip over it. Overall, still a classic.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Bill and Ted movies, I mean I really enjoy watching the first one, but the second one is kind of meh for me. And when I found out about this Steelbook for the first movie I wasn't sure I was going to get it, but it was a really nice looking Steel and I just decided to go for it when the pre-order was an amazing deal.
The movie looks really good on blu-ray, I really only have the times when it was on TV to compare the quality to, but for just an older movie in general it is a very nice master of it, the sound quality is also great. Overall this is a great Steelbook for the movie and I recommend it.

This story is epic. I mean, high school kids travel through time. It's pretty dope. I was 11 in 1989 when this came out. So I was the prime age for this film to find its way into my all time heartfelt faves. I came back to watch this in 2019 bc I wanted to remember why Keanu Reeves stood out in this film. In other words, why did he become this epic star and not also Alex Winter? Well, let's just say, Keanu has all the best and most quotable lines! And, of course, his adorably dopey facial expressions. A true winner. Be Excellent to each other, and party on, dudes--Abraham Lincoln.

Is this a great movie? Probably not.

Is this a fun movie that will ignite nostalgia for the late 80s with a lot of Gen X viewers? Totally! (queue guitar riff) That's the reason I give it a biased 5 stars.

This movie has been around for ages. I liked it as kid and enjoyed rewatching it recently. The rental price on PRIME was more than fair, and the video quality good. My teen daughter was actually the one that wanted to see this, so it has cross-generational appeal. We had fun as a family re-watching it, and the streaming quality was good.

If you're a Gen-Xer in the mood for some nostalgia, and maybe want to expose your kids to movies you experience while growing up that you *think* they may enjoy, then give this a go.

Since this movie came out years and years ago, Keanu Reeves became a star; hence, there are lots of people who admire and adore him who dont' know his early work. If you're one of those folks you should buy a copy of Bill and Ted and watch it a couple times. You'll find yourself becoming curious about what happened to his buddy; I think he was one of the people who brought us Repo Man, no? If Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure brought Keanu Reeves to the world's attention, well, that was pretty darn prescient.

The most excellent Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure is firmly in the pantheon of great Eighties period pieces, yet the cultural traction it continues to gain proves its ongoing appeal to mischievous teens of any generation.

Ted Theodore Logan (Keanu Reeves) and Bill S. Preston Esquire (Alex Winter) load up on the SoCal "accent" and coinciding Eighties vernacular and take it right over the top, joyously pushing the envelope separating authentic acting and totally self-aware exaggeration. The casting and resulting acting, in fact, can truly be argued as the drivers of the film's long-term success : It takes serious acting power to play fun-loving knuckleheads while at the same administering a healthy dose of knowing satire, yet neither Reeves nor Winter really have received the kudos they deserve for knocking these roles out of the park and transforming these characters into true cultural icons that remain in our public consciousness decades later.

Check your film snobbery at the door, crack a cold one, and give in to all the lovely nonsense this classic comedy has to offer.

my husband never seen this so i picked this for our family movie night. he likes waynes world and i thought this would be perfect for him. it didnt catch his attention totaly but there were parts he laughed at. it not a serious movie by any means but its good for the feeling goofy movie night. its good for kids and adults but wont fit all personality types. this takes a certain kinda person to like this in my opinion. even still its definately a classic

Ok got this as part of my recent little nostalgia fest. It is a film that will breeze by and does what it says on the tin....its funny now watching Reeves after he has been in so many iconic roles over the years. Bogus was always my favourite as from memory it does have the sharper script of the two (and Death!!!)...so will see if that sneaks into the all time fave score zone of 4 or 5 stars next.

Really enjoyed catching up with Excellent Adventure for the first time in three decades and it held up pretty well...but not sure my 9 year old will like it. Yes there is a misguided homophobic reference that rubs the wrong way... especially as it goes against the core value of the film....'be excellent to eachother!'....and actually makes the film feel more dated as a result....but so innocent is the overall premise that it can be acknowledged as a truthful expression off how people did talk at that time, without ruining the film.

Yes like most 30 year old sci-fi related films the set design and effects look dated slightly and so do the effects...but this film was always intended to be bright, fun and fast paced which it really succeeds at.

Ok onto Bogus next.....will I want to see the new one after that??....find out in my Bill and Ted Bogus Journey review....'Bogus Dudes!!'

If you're of a certain age and you remember this film, then you will have an excellent adventure watching this! Bill and Ted are about to get kicked out of school if they fail their history project. But if that happens, their band will never happen, and they won't save the world, align the planets, create peace etc. Cue Rufus from the future, to lend the lads a time machine so that they can go back in time and deliver a great history report. Sounds simple, right?
As you can imagine, not really believable, not really serious, but you'll lose count of how many times you'll say excellent while watching this film.
