Bill Haley & His Comets
Bill's 1960 debut album for Warner Bros. might be the first "oldies" album ever cut by an established rock 'n' roll act, and it was a honey, with ripsnortin' versions of Blue Suede Shoes; Kansas City; Shake Rattle & Roll; Stagger Lee; My Special Angel , and more.

The sound of the covers by other artists is not up to the originals, still in listening to the songs one could easily argue that had Haley's versions been first, they would have been the hits.
Ballads are tackled here with mixed results. "Love Letters In The Sand" is a favorite of mine of all the versions I've heard and "My Special Angel" is pretty good.
This is not the place to start for a Haley/Comets compilation, but for his fans, it's a fine album with Bill Haley & his Comets.
