The Bill & Ted 3-film collection gathers all three films of the Bill & Ted trilogy in one 3-disc Blu-ray set. The first film, “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” (1989), introduces William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. (Alex Winter) and Ted “Theodore” Logan (Keanu Reeves), two high school seniors in San Dimas, CA who spent more time dreaming about their band, Wyld Stallyns, than paying attention to school and so are failing history. Rufus (George Carlin) visits them from the future to help them lean about history with the aid of a time machine as the future depends on them passing their history presentation and forming their band, whose music will inspire a utopia. In “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey” (1991), gym teacher Chuck De Nomolos (Joss Ackland) sends robotic doppelgängers of Bill and Ted back from the future to kill Bill and Ted and destroy their legacy, hoping to create a society based on his own ideals. Bill and Ted must challenge the Grim Reaper (William Sadler), escape Hell, and enlist the aid of aliens in Heaven to return to the world of the living and defeat De Nomolos. The franchise continued in 2020, with “Bill & Ted Face the Music,” in which Bill and Ted are struggling to create the music that will inspire the utopian future. The Great Leader (Holland Taylor) and Rufus’s daughter (Kristen Schaal) warn them that they have a limited amount of time left to create the great song or reality will collapse. Bill and Ted travel to the future to find their song, pursued by a robot (Anthony Carrigan), while their daughters, Billie (Brigette Lundy-Paine) and Thea (Samara Weaving), travel to the past in order to create a band that will make the great song for their fathers before time is up. The threequel combines all the best elements of the first two films into a picture that successfully blends nostalgia with a new narrative.

This is a great way to get all three films in a single set. It would be better if it included the animated series from Hanna-Barbera and DIC, “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures,” that ran for 21 episodes between 1990 and 1991. The first season, from Hanna-Barbera, featured the original cast reprising their roles for voice work, though in the second season Evan Richards, Christopher Kennedy, and Rick Overton replaced Alex Winter, Keanu Reeves, and George Carlin, respectively. There was also a short-lived live-action television series, also titled “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures,” that ran for 7 episodes in 1992 and featured Evan Richards, Christopher Kennedy, and Rick Overton reprising their roles from the second season of the animated series. These were entertaining in their own way, even if they didn’t influence the third film. Beyond film and television, the franchise expanded into a comic book series from Marvel between 1991-1992, some comics from BOOM! Studios in the late 2010s, a comic book miniseries prequel to the third film from Dark Horse Comics, a cereal based on the cartoon, a musical in 1998, various video games, and a live show at Universal Studios. It’s a surprisingly long-lived a versatile franchise, and this 3-movie collection is a must-have for fans.

we loved the original, memories of staying home sick from school, watching this and many other movies, were the hopefully nostalgic memories i had hoped to conjure with this gift.
due to unfortunate circumstances, she didn't get this for mother's day. We started having a bunch of break ins after using a really bad home repair company here in Austin, and the dvd was one of the things that disappeared, and then was returned days and days later, placed elsewhere in the house. (places searched and known to be previously lacking)
Any way, She had already watched the newest in the trilogy without telling me, and was too preoccupied with denying that she had hired con artists, to have any good feels, but i know she under optimal circumstances would have loved the gift.

I feel this set was a good deal for three movies. I grew up in the 80's, so Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is a classic for me... maybe not so much Bogus Journey. The third movie was just fine, but not good. One good thing I can say about it is that I made it through the entire movie in one sitting without falling asleep. I got a couple of chuckles from it. Not written as well, not as creative as the first two, but much better special effects. Then you go back and watch the first two and realize they weren't great, either. So, if you grew up in the 80's and saw Excellent Adventure in the theater, this might be something you want to pick up... for nostalgic purposes.

Physical Copies are Most Excellent!

This three disk collection is just what I was looking for: an inexpensive way to watch the original two Bill and Ted movies and also see the new (final?) addition to the franchise.

The first movie is totally Excellent, and even cynical tween children will get a smile and enjoy the ride. Bogus Journey was, in my memory, a pretty fun film, but on re-watching, it isn't nearly as good as the original.

The newest one, Face the Music, captures a lot of the fun of the original. Some of the old ideas are rehashed, but the spirit is there, and while passing the torch to the daughters feels a little forced, it's ultimately a fun movie that's worth a watch.

Buying BluRays in the time of streaming giants is odd, but being able to stream a lot of movies and shows on demand has the effect of getting consumers away from buying physical disks. This means that when streaming services no longer offer the content you want, you're pushed towards buying or renting digital copies. While the convenience of digital is hard to beat, never forget that you don't really own "your" digital stuff, in most cases. Licenses expire, and even large streaming services collapse eventually.

The point is this: owning a DVD or BluRay or whatever comes next won't last forever, but if you take good care of your disks, they'll probably outlast your ability to watch the digital copies. Buy physical copies and party on dudes! (And don't forget to be excellent to each other)

This set is Region Free but the 2nd film Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey has a manufacturing fault and will not play after 37 minutes. I have tried in multiple Blu-Ray Players and an Xbox One.

The 1st and 3rd films play without a problem. Each film is on it's own separate disc. I just hope that Bogus Journey is released in the U.K. soon, as the 1st film (Excellent Adventure) has been available for years and the 3rd film (Face The Music) is just about to be released on the 25/01/21, but no word on when or even if Bogus Journey will be released on Blu-Ray in the U.K.

Terrific sequel as the Wlyd Stalyns traverse space and time to write the song that will ultimately unite the entire universe! This movie was a real breath of fresh air (and air-guitar!) Funny, moving, touching and it hits just the right tonal notes. The various different versions of themselves that they meet (all the US’s) were simply hilarious! At a time when the news is so awful and depressing this movie offers a terrific and escapist couple of hours. Can’t recommend it highly enough! Most Excellent and Bodacious!!!
