Juliet grew up on the grounds of The Claremont estate where her mother was the full-time dance instructor. She was friends with Quinn, the younger of two brothers and in her teen years became smitten with him.
When Julia leaves home to become a ballerina in New York she vows that she will always love Quinn even though he doesn’t know it and may not feel the same. When she returns to the estate 6 years later she still fancies herself in love with Quinn.
Bennett is Quinn’s older brother and the one who oversees the estate. He knows that Quinn isn’t the person that Juliet thinks he is but knows she must find out for herself. While Quinn is away Bennett and Juliet go out together as friends – they enjoy the same things – but Juliet still longs for Quinn to return.
This is one of the most touching love stories I’ve read in a while. I’ll read anything from sweet to smut and this one definitely leans more towards the sweet side. However, sweet doesn’t mean that there isn’t any heat or sexual tension between the characters, it’s just not real explicit and the bad language is kept to a minimum (no f-bombs at all).
Bennett is a woman’s dream come true. The way he treats Juliet’s mother and his family is wonderful. I think he’ll stay my new book boyfriend for a while.
Juliet was sure of one thing. Her heart beat only for Quinn. He was the son of her mother’s employer, and he forever captured every part of her young heart. While he never saw her as more than a friend, to her he was her world. She hoped for more, but knew she couldn’t force anything. She hoped with time and patience he would come to see that she waited with bated breath for him to see her love that she held onto for him. As she continued with her life in New York while pursuing her career of ballet, she never could have guessed the wonder and surprise that awaited her back at home. Would her long held dreams come true, or would her future hold something that was beyond even her wildest dreams?
Juliet is like another any girl who has fallen in love from the affections of a boy. There is nothing wrong about that, but the danger comes whenever we keep the blinders of love attached as we grow up. We need to see each other for who we are because at times we grow apart or our young filter can block so much important information from us. I enjoyed watching Juliet and her journey after coming back home for a short visit. She found so much more than she ever expected and even more then she dared to dream. She just had to open her heart to endless possibilities and follow the path that it set before her.
Deanne Roy has created a truly breathtaking and wonderfully inspiring story to the power of taking a chance and listening to the prodding of your heart. Your head can’t possibly understand the power and the importance of love in our lives, so if you want to find it and keep it in your life you need to listen to the quiet and peaceful voice of your heart. Deanne has graced us with another of her astonishing creations that will make you feel and experience every emotion and hold your heart captive the entire time. She is an author that needs to be treasured, cherished, and savored.
I felt the book could have been even better with a bit more development in how the relationships grew or grew apart and more about what made them all the way they are along with the stresses of siblings. It was alluded that there were difficulties with some of the five siblings however it was glossed over and never seemed to be an issue in the daily lives of Quinn and Bennett. How do the other siblings feel about the relationships with Juliet, who is considered "the help?" Do they encourage or discourage either brother to pursue her?
Wow! I really enjoyed this story! I LOVE ballet, so reading about their dancing just brings me joy. I got slightly irritated with Juliet at times when it came to Quinn, but then I remembered how sheltered she was growing up. I am going to be vague so I don't give the story away, but I liked the grand gestures, like the slippers and art show. I love the secondary characters, like the cook and her mother. I loved the ending! It would only be more perfect with a novella following up with the couple.
I am excited to read more in this world!
