This book is packed with refreshing humor and sexual tension so thick Emeril Lagasse wouldn't be able to cut through it.
Allison Bartlett is giving herself one last chance to prove that she can fit into the "old boys" club. Determined, she sets out to make her pitch unique and more importantly one that won't be brushed aside simply because she's a woman. But, for a task as original as the one Ally has in mind the research has to be just as innovative. She was supposed to be focused on the task at hand, but that's hard to do when the sexy stranger from the bar is suddenly standing at her table.
Hunter Knox; proud CEO, heir to the Knox family business, guarded, oh and he's Ally's mystery man from the bar...who she somewhat slept with.
Working together shouldn't be hard. Right? With so much on the line for them both the decision should be easy: focus on the job. But the best laid plans.....
This isn't just another billionaire romance, it's a sensational story that captures your attention with that first sultry look into an intoxicating man's eyes.
Ally is working to prove herself in a man's dominated career. She is looked upon as a intern instead of fellow colleague. And she's tired of it, so now she's out to prove that she's got what it takes.
Hunter is running the family business, but there is a plot to overthrow his position. Rebranding and new advertising campaign may be what the business needs to increase profit and prove to the board that Hunter is what this company needs.
Ally and Hunter meet in a very unconventional manor. Sparks fly and the whiskey burns, but the connection they make is undeniable.
Ally wants to keep their relationship purely professional, but it's hard to resist a man like Hunter Knox. He tall, handsome, passionate, a seductive smile, brilliant, down to Earth, and sexy as hell. If I was in Ally's position, I wouldn't be able to resist rips his clothes off and having my way with him every chance I got.
Hunter will give her the distance she wants, but Ally regrets it almost immediately. But is it too late to make things right? With that jaw-dropping cliffhanger, I would say maybe it is!
Seriously, that ending made my heart stop, breath leave my lungs, and the world fades to black. Lila, I am a huge fan and love you dearly, but that ending killed me!
This series is proving to be a tantalizing story that will provocative and deliciously spectacular. I, for one, will defiantly relish spending time with Hunter Knox.
I really liked this book. I love Lila's writing style and voice. The characters are great. What I really do not love is the whole break one story into several small books game. I unfortunately will not be taking part in that. Because of that I can only give this 3 stars but it is worth more.
I do look forward to reading her standalone books though.
It began with Allison (Ally) tasting bourbon in a bar, as part of research for the ad campaign she is working on. A handsome stranger comes over and before she knows it, she’s taking a chance and they are heading back to her room. I could see this encounter was going to bite her in the butt… but it was amusing none-the-less! Soon she’s working with this stranger and fighting her attraction because she wants to succeed with this campaign and make a name for herself.
I liked how Ally was driven and didn’t allow her feelings to intrude on her professional life. You can see that she is very attracted to Knox, but feeling like a nobody in the past has made her determined to make this campaign a success. She’s treated poorly in her workplace, and there are a lot of jerks on the sidelines just waiting for her to fail. There were a few moments between Ally and Knox where she would let her guard down, and I could see the heat rising between them, but she was quick to back away.
The ending though, kind of broke both Ally and myself, and reminded me why serials annoy me at times! The story was great, but nowhere near long enough, and they end abruptly leaving you hanging for more. It was an addictive beginning to the series, and I felt that the author did a great job building the world and hooked to the characters. If you are looking for a short read, with plenty of flirting and fun, definitely try this one!
