Josh sat at his desk and looked at a picture he had of himself, his best friend Kylie, and 10 other friends who had gone on a camping and rafting trip together at college. He and Kylie had drifted apart, both with different views of what was important to them. He thought he should call her, but they wouldn’t have anything to talk about. Maybe he would call her over the weekend instead.
Kylie was working on a sculpture when her doorbell rang. She thought it was the guy bringing her art supplies so she opened the door without looking. It was her ex, Andrew. They had split up recently and he wanted to get back with her. But she had no interest and finally slammed the door shut. She called her friend, Mandy, who suggested they grab Jasmine and Josh to come along. Jasmine just had a breakup too and needed the alcohol. Josh would discourage other guys from pestering them, and being an almost billionaire, they wouldn’t have to pay for drinks all night.
When Mandy suggests a road trip with Kylie and Josh, they stop in Vegas. Things heat up between Kylie and Josh, so Mandy takes off. Josh is still trying to work on his pending business deal and ends up leaving to concentrate on that. Kylie sees him put the emphasis on work and not her. Will they each find out what is truly important to them? Or will hard feelings drive them apart?
This was a very good book. I loved the way the author introduced the reader to the development of Kylie and Josh’s friendship starting from their college days. By the time we’re taken to present day, it’s easy to imagine how the two of them feel about each other, even though they both kept their true feelings buried for so long. I highly recommend this book. It’s definitely emotional, but it’s the comfortable kind of old friends beginning to move into something better. Come along for the ride!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book as well as purchased it
