Midnight Angel is about Dylan North and Dr. Holly Evans. These two were high school sweethearts. Dylan always had the dream of being an actor and Holly wanted to follow in her father's footsteps and be a doctor. Their plan was to go to New York where Holly would go to college and Dylan could try to break in on Broadway. Just after graduation, Dylan left Holly a note and took off for Hollywood leaving Holly stunned. 10 years later Dylan is back and has decided he wants Holly back in his life for good. This was a sweet, reunion story about two people who could never move on from the past. Loved their fun times together and big surprise for Holly at the end.
The Playboy's Second Chance is a novella from the Serendipity series. Lissa Gardelli and Trevor Dane dated in high school. Lissa had previously dated Bradley Banks and when they broke up Trevor made his move. One night after a fight between Lissa and Trevor, she ended up in Brad's bed resulting in a pregnancy. Lissa ended up marrying Brad, and was in a loveless marriage for 10 years. Lissa finally divorces Brad and is trying to make it on her own with her daughter Olivia. Lissa is assigned to write an article, Thirty Under Thirty, about 30 successful men under 30 years old. The first assignment is Trevor, whom she hasn't seen in 10 years. I loved his reaction when Lissa walked into his office! It obvious these two still have feelings for each other. The path these two had to take to find their way back to each other was sexy and sweet. I just adored the final happy ending!
Seriously? It took Dylan 10 years to come back for Holly and she lets him back in overnight? I would have made him work a little harder for it. In any event, I loved it. They kept bouncing back to old feelings that never died but as they get to know each other now those feelings are growing deeper and stronger. Does true love ever really die?
The Playboy's Second Chance - 5 stars
I read this one when it was Kismet but re-read it again and still loved it.
Loved this even if there is very little time spent in Serendipity. Lissa and Trevor have been apart for 10 years and the reason resulted in a daughter with a rival and marriage to him that ended in a much deserved (for Lissa) divorce. Lissa has a new job and one of her first assignments is to write an article on Trevor. Surprise! She shows up at his office and though he agrees to the interview he didn't know it was with Lissa. Sparks fly (good ones) and feelings re-ignite and... you have to read it to enjoy it as much as I did...
The second book was a novella formerly released as Kismet in the Serendipity series. It also works as a standalone because it was not set in Serendipity. It is a nice short story about Lissa and Trevor. We had glimpses of Lissa in the first book of the Serendipity series when she writes an article to help the heroine of that book, Faith Harrington. The only importance of that book in this one is that the article helps to launch Lissa's writage ing career. She gets hired to write a series of interviews about 30 guys under age 30 who are very successful at a young age. The first man she needs to interview is her high school sweetheart. When she shows up to do the interview with Trevor, you can just see their connection. This was a great story. I loved the whole storyline and the outcome.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
