I loved this addition to the series. I like Gabe and PJ/Pru a lot. I do think they should have talked about their feelings honestly way before they did. They both assumed too much. Even when Gabe decided he would not hold back anymore he did not explain himself to Pru so she misread his actions.
I loved catching up with all the couples from the other books in the series too. Everyone should have a circle of friends like this. Great job again Lori Ryan.
Lots of fav quotes:
As PJ watched the group, feeling like an outsider, she was struck by how quickly and easily all of them pulled together to help when Jill and Andrew needed them. She suspected any of their friends would get the same treatment if they found themselves in need of support. But, it also made her realize that some of her decisions thirteen years ago hadn’t been wrong.
“Please, Pru. Let me help. Even if it’s just to listen,” he said and rubbed a thumb over her cheek where a tear had fallen. “I know you don’t want to go to your parents, but you have to have someone on your side through this.”
She shook her head. “If I tell you, it will change the way you look at me, how you think about me,” she whispered, and he watched as she struggled to control the shaking of her chin, to keep the tears from falling.
“Oh, Pru,” he leaned his forehead against hers and threaded his fingers through her hair. “Nothing you tell me will ever change the way I see you, or how much I care about you. I promise.”
Well, hell. It was a lot harder not to stiffen for that one, but he steadied his breathing and kept holding her, all the while planning Jimmy Mondo’s death in gruesome and excruciating detail in his head. He’d need to talk to Chad about how to hide a body—he was pretty sure Chad knew that sort of thing.
“PJ, I’m not Jimmy Mondo or that idiot, Kirt Tolleson. I’m not using you, and I’m not going to get bored and leave you. A long time ago, I thought the age difference between us would be a big deal, but now that we’re older, the difference doesn’t seem so big. I want to be with you. I want to make you happy and help you through this. And, after this is all over, I want to take time to get to know you and let you get to know me and see where this goes. But, I can already tell you where it’s going for me.”
“I love kissing you and holding you, and I know I’m going to love making love to you. Even so, I’m not going to push you because I’m happy to wait until you’re feeling right about this. But, what I’m not willing to do is leave you. I’m not going to leave you alone while you’re dealing with so much and while you’re still in danger. So don’t ask me to, Pru.”
“Come in with me,” she whispered. “Please?” she begged before he could say no—and he couldn't deny her. Hell, he didn’t want to. As much as he didn’t want to push her into anything, he couldn’t hold back any longer. Not when she looked at him like that. Like he was the only thing in the world she needed.
“You can’t live your life for other people, honey. It’s one thing to worry about other people and to help them and be considerate of their feelings. It’s another to live a life you don’t want because of their needs. You can’t let yourself feel guilty for living the life you need after almost fifteen years of touring.”

they both want. One helping the other as they realize

I love when a series circles back to bring us up to speed on previous characters. Lori does a great job with this. While this book could be read as a stand alone, I would recommend starting from book 1 'Legal Ease', which happens to be FREE on Amazon right now! You will not be disappointed in any Lori Ryan book, but this series is great!
