Theron, King of the Spider Kingdom: Today, Blacksmith, I will restore the honor of all spiderkine. I will bathe in your blood and wash away my humiliation.
Billy: Well, yo mama is so fat, she has sixteen legs.
Boom! Perfect comeback!
Billy Blacksmith may be public enemy number one in the demon world, but he’s still got plenty of attitude! He survived the first major wave of demon hordes and destroyed the gate of the underworld, but he (and all humankind) are not out of the woods yet. Not with every hound in hell screaming for his blood! But he’s far from defeated. He has demon blood, too, after all. Plus some amazing allies – Seth, Ash-Lea, Greyson, and (least of all) Aesop, his new puppy-sized spider friend, who likes to cuddle on his shoulder. Plus the whole Blouin family, who are in a class by themselves! And there’s a mystical, demon-defeating weapon, if he can just figure out where to find it.
Enter Mr. Fingers, the baddest baddy in the history of hell. And of course, he still has the worst foster parents ever!
What an entertaining read! The action scenes are so well written you feel a part of them, the characters are well defined, and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat page after page. The plot has been so well crafted that you catch yourself thinking, “Ah, hah! So, that’s the reason that (fill in the blank) . . ." Little by little, we’re coming to know the real story of Billy Blacksmith.
This was a thoroughly delightful, charming (as far as demons go), and exciting read! A fantastic sequel! I most HIGHLY recommend this book!
It was a lot of fun getting to know Billy and other characters from the first book (on both sides, including some intriguing new ones) more, with all their twists, turns and surprises. I was also excited to explore deeper into this world that it's evident I've only glimpsed so far. I sense a lot more world and character exploration to come in the following tomes, and I look forward to the journey!
Fun, playful, slightly gory. Masterful character development, particularly with the main protagonist and a truly terrifying, and believable, spider soldier general. Ben has created a believable, albeit terrifying, world to tell his story in. It manages to be sweet, and violent, and engaging all at once.
Definitely hanging out for the third book!! More!!!
