I used this extension panel to bring two motherboard USB 3.0 connections to a front 5.25" drive bay in my new desktop PC. It's heavy duty, dual USB molded connector fit perfectly and snugly in an ASUS P8P67 Pro (Rev 3.1) motherboard's dual USB 3.0 connection header.

The cable length was long enough to reach a top 5.25" drive bay in a Cooler Master RC-922M HAF ATX Mid Tower Case. Since the Biostar CABLEUSB30 panel comes as a 3.5" profile, it was first mounted in a SilverStone 3.5" to 5.25" Front Panel Bay Converter panel (model FP55B) and then mounted in a 5.25" front drive bay in the Cooler Master case. Note - If used without a 3.5" to 5.25" converter, the box includes all the hardware you'll need to add the two USB 3.0 ports to a rear expansion bay on a desktop PC.

It's great to have these two front panel USB 3.0 ports in addition to the two rear USB 3.0 ports already on the ASUS motherboard's edge connector.

I am extremely pleased with the quality of this product.

Best way so far to get new USB 3.0 Ports into a Case with only USB 2.0 Port connections. No Hub with electronics just Ports! Installed in Cooler Master SGC-2000-KKN1-GP Storm Scout ATX/MATX/ITX Mid Tower Case (Black). For proper positioning, could only get screws into last 2 holes on side of mounting bracket. Unit sits forward in Case Drive Bay for Front Flush Mount. Mount is secure, no wobble.

Would like to see this Part offered with Mount for (2) 2.5 inch Drives Mounted behind USB 3.0 Bracket. Hope to use this with a SILVERSTONE SDP08 3.5 to 2 X 2.5-Inch Bay Converter. Not certain yet if they will fit in same Drive Bay. Would make excellent use of space for USB 3.0 & SSDs in a Desktop.

Installed on GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard (rev. 1.x). Has 2 ports available through the internal USB header (Keyed 19 Pin F_USB Header). Otherwise, try Ordering Gigabyte Part #: 12CR1-FPX582-01R - 2 Outlet USB 3.0 Female 3.5 in. Bay Front Panel with Cable to IDC Female Header Connector. This part from Biostar is less expensive & easier to find!

I bought this just for the parts, even though could have used it as is and been perfectly fine. I had other plans for the pieces before I ordered but needed the USB 3.0 to board component for one thing and the 3.5" bay adapter for another. Not only were the parts delivered within the stated timeframe, the price very reasonable, the components worked as they should. I am satisfied, Amazon has done it again.

It's pretty tough these days to find front panel/rear USB 3.0 Connectors that actually connect to the Motherboard USB 3.0 header. I shopped around for quite a while until I find the Biostar USB 3.0 Aluminum Front Panel CABLEUSB30 - Black. Most front panel USB 3.0 Connectors don't actually connect to the Motherboard! There's actually a cable that runs out the back of your case and connects to the rear USB 3.0 ports. Yes. I'm not kidding!

The Biostar panel is well-constructed with a long cable. It looks nice and mounts in a 3.5" bay. If you don't have a free 3.5" bay it can be used in one of the slots for a rear expansion bay and it comes with the adapter and screws needed.

I'm thrilled that I found this item and at such a great price!

Works just fine. Speed good. It appears to be well constructed. Mounting bracket won't work in my Cooler Master case 3.5" slot. It would lack an inch or so of coming out flush with the front cover. Luckily I had a 3.5" to 5.25" adapter. Then it worked fine.; just added $5 to the cost.

USB 3.0 works great (reliable/full speed connection, etc.). Hooks up to my motherboard just fine (uses the almost-kinda-standard header that most manufacturers are using these days). The cable is long enough (I believe 24") to reach from the front of my case to the back of the mobo (this was NOT the case with the cabling that came with the motherboard, which is why I ended up having to buy this). Comes with a bracket allowing you to use it in the back of the case instead of the front.

The fit of this product in my 3.5" drive bay seemed a bit awkward, but it works OK. The "rails" on the side of the unit aren't very long - they only go back a couple of inches - so you may only be able to get one screw into the sides. If the overall "casing" of this unit was more the size of a regular floppy disk drive, it would be a bit easier to install and would be just slightly sturdier. Don't get me wrong - as long as you can get one screw in each side, it should stay fine (I can push on mine firmly and it doesn't budge). But the thing does have two screw holes on each side so I felt like I should be able to use them!

Seconds after placing my order I went back to the product page and noticed that the price had gone up about 2x (I paid around nine bucks and it was 18 or 19). It wasn't on sale when I made the purchase. This isn't necessarily a problem - Amazon is free to charge whatever and change their prices whenever - but I almost bought two, but decided to hold off and see how the first one worked. Now I won't get one because I'm not paying twenty bucks to have USB 3 ports on the front of my 2nd PC.
