I shared the heroine’s disbelief, and struggled right along with her as she fought to adapt to the restrictive era, without relinquishing her independence, then cheered her on as she used her intelligent mind to win over the local law enforcement while surrendering her heart to the rancher who saved her life.
If you enjoy a novel chocked full of history, humor and sweet romance give Birdie’s Nest a try. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
** Spoiler Alert **
Birdie is a strong heroine, a Texas Ranger, whose live is completely turned around when she's thrown back to 1890, a time when a woman with a strong character and law enforcement background is not common at all. Her relationship with Tad is enjoyable to read.
I didn't expect the twist of events regarding Lucy, you can't help but like her at the end.
The book is well written, and I found myself hoping certain outcomes would happen. Most did, yet with interesting twists and turns. I realize that in various time-frames, people go through growing pains and pretty much the same situations - in different ways - as we do in the present day. I'm not much of a reader, but I've read most of Linda's, and find them hard to put down until I've finished.
Something about the slightly negative review above, I am not sure where the '400 pages' came from. Maybe on an Android, but there are actually less than 200 real pages. I encourage readers to read for yourselves, and you'll understand why the characters held back. We aren't talking about raw, sexual love. It is love that slowly develops in spite of the main character's rebellion. There are circumstances which required discretion. It's more of a developing true-love story than romance. Read it for yourself.
