The premise is good. The plot, kinda a detour, but still relevant. Warning. Spoilers below.
Hero. Classic good guy. Likeable. Not a lot of background other than lost his sister.
Heroine. Gads. Hot mess. Took me FOREVER to warm up to. The first dozen chapters she had the intellegence of a stump. One of the things I love about Ms. Harbers books, is her female leads, regardless of their situations, are ALWAYS smart. Ella has the intellegence of a 12 year old. Always on her phone, reporting her movements, whereabouts, even when she knows she has a stalker. What finally smartens her up? Green slime. Not violent photos or threats. Slime...the second time. Its not until over 50percent does she finally begin the act her age. It was cringe worthy reading her.
Of course the stalker is dealt with ( took forever!) Lessons were learned and HEA is picture perfect. My main problem? You could have removed at least 5 chapters to say it. It just felt like lots and lots of filler. Frustrating.
Suffice it to say, I was disappointed. I'll still buy the next one, but this will go down as one of those books I forget I've even read after a week or two.
The villain is known upfront, I kept waiting for character development and didn't see it, although I quit at about 60%. I just wanted to smack her with a chair.
