Why should I invest in a canister vacuum?
Canister vacuums are generally lighter and more maneuverable than uprights. They are great for vacuuming under low tables and furniture. The compact design makes them easy to store and to carry on stairs. Many canister vacuums have tools and attachments that clean almost any surface.
What makes it safe for hard floors?
It has nonmarking wheels made of rubber and felt. The brush has softer bristles that are not as tough on hard floors as a typical vacuum brush.

I am attaching lots of pictures of this Hard Floor canister vacuum so that you'll see the wonderful features it has to offer.
First of all, I didn't read the product specs when I bought it, and I discovered them as I was taking the vacuum and its parts out of the box. I expected a regular canister vacuum, nothing fancy. One thing that caught my eyes was the 2 AAA batteries. I have never had a vacuum that uses batteries. So I read the quick 3 step instructions on putting the batteries in the handle which has a built in remote that allows the user to control the amount of suction and to temporary turn off and on the vacuum. Impressive!! In order to use the remote in the handle, you will need to first turn the vacuum on by pressing the ON button on the canister. Then you can adjust the suction and turn the vacuum off/on using the remote in the handle. When you press the ON/OFF button in the remote to turn it off, you'll noticed that a light going back and forth on the canister, indicating that the vacuum is on, but in like a pause mode. This is the same light used to indicate the suction setting.
Another thing that I really like is the canister for the dirt/dust. I thought it was going to use a disposable bag or one of those canisters that require me to scrap the dust off the filter in the canister, which is very messy. Well, this one is very well designed, and the dirt/dust is trapped in one side of the canister, and once the door opens, I can easily dump the dirt into the trashcan without having to touch the dirt, and no dirty filter to scrub either. Very nice!
The first thing I noticed during set up is that the parts can be attached and unattached very easily. It is so user friendly. I don't have to push and pull the parts part. They click into place, and by pushing the button on the side, the parts can be slide apart with little effort. When I turn the vacuum on, WOW... so quiet! It makes me naturally handle the vacuum more gently. I turned the suction setting up to a 5. I can feel the suction on my hard wood floor, sucking up the dirt/dust/fur.
I used the carpet part to vacuum the rug, and it seemed to do a pretty good job. I don't have any carpet in my house to really test it out. I used the hand tool with the brush to vacuum the runner on the staircase, and WOW, it sucks up all the pet fur with little effort. I have 3 cats and 1 little dog, and they shed a lot. I am really thankful that I found this vacuum, because it really sucks up all the fur, and my house looks and feels so clean.
Although I have only used it once and only vacuumed 2 of the 3 floors and 1 of the 2 flights of staircase, I am amazed by how much this vacuum sucked up. Not sure where it found all the fur! LOL
I hope this vacuum will hold up. I'll update this review if I ran into any problems. Until then... I am so happy with this vacuum, and the price is so reasonable for the performance I'm getting. No, I can get rid of the old canister and the new handvac that is underperforming.
I just received and starting using this vacuum so will hope it will continue to work as it does out of the box.
I loved watching dust bunnies float across the floor into the vacuum head (instead of being blown away from the vacuum like would happen with the PowerEdge), also it vacuums up the small pieces of wood, bark and ash from around our wood stove. I can hear small stones and pieces of dirt being sucked up into the metal hose as I vacuum around the room (instead of finding the dirt behind the upright vacuum as it would scatter dirt across the floor).
Because I dropped the small brush attachment and it came apart into two pieces I realized that the brush head swivels. This is great because I can vacuum the sides and tops of the old ceiling beams which are very hard to dust because of their rough surface.
Because the floor and carpet heads swivel (which someone complained about) I can sweep the short back stairs which are carpeted from the bottom step and not have to pull or lift the canister up the stairs. Our cat likes to hang out under our TV armoire and I can swivel the floor head and reach all parts of the floor under the armoire so I don't nee to move it or change to a hose attachment to get all the dirt and cat hair that collects underneath.
The low profile of the floor head allows me to reach under more furniture and get right up against the wall (where with another vacuum I would have to change to a hose attachment to get the edges of walls). It's nice and powerful and I feel that I am getting all the dust and dirt that gets into the corners and edges.
When the metal (nice and sturdy) hose is fully extended it's plenty long enough for me (5 ft 6" tall).
I like that the heads attach with a button so they don't fall off while vacuuming.
The power bypass is nice too when I need to stop to adjust something. I just turn the canister upright so I can hook the hose onto the back and it sits nice and tidy until I'm ready, no reaching down to the floor to pick up the hose.
It has a very quiet motor. My dogs didn't even realize that I was running a vacuum the first time I used it. They always come running to bark at a vacuum when it is first turned on.
Very light in weight and easy to carry around so it was easy to clean the long flight of hardwood stairs. I didn't bother to change to a hose attachment because the floor head works so well.
It works well enough on our area rugs and I really being able to decrease the suction power to clean the bathroom rugs which are lighter weight and get sucked up at full power, but no, it is not made for carpets.
Yes, it is a small dirt canister.
Yes, the power cord is short but I attached a heavy duty extension cord and now I can sweep 1/2 the house from one plug and the other 1/2 from a 2nd plug. No worries there.
Because of the rewinding power cord and the way it hooks together to store, this vacuum is a breeze to get out for regular cleaning or touch ups. Overall, I am loving this vacuum.
The digital fingertip controls on the handle require two AAA batteries which are provided. Its not a big deal because the vacuum does still function without using it... so it they die you aren't left without use of the vacuum. The extended reach extension wand is nice, works well. By far the best part of this vacuum is the hard floor tool, it spins really fast and suction on it is great. I was doing a bit of sanding and had sheetrock dust all over the place, that tool helped me easily get rid of it all. The garbage tank on this thing is easy to empty. Please be aware that although there is no bag there are filters. One on the tank and the other on the bottom of the vacuum for the out blower. They didn't seem to get that dirty after a few uses and are easily cleanable under some warm water.
I hope this helps some of you that are deciding to purchase a vacuum.
