Zing Bagless Canister Vacuum, 6489
How do I clean my whole home with the Zing?
The Zing Bagless Canister vacuum is a convenient whole-home cleaning system. Its lightweight, compact design makes traveling up stairs with the floor brush easy, especially since the Zing has a carrying handle. You can also attach the extension wand or combination crevice tool/dusting brush to capture dirt and dust from your above-floor surfaces. Variable suction control means that you can turn the suction down and even clean fabrics like curtains.
What is the difference between an upright vacuum and a canister vacuum?
Canister vacuums are low to the ground vacuums that have a long hose with a wand on the end. As you clean through the hose and wand, you pull the canister unit behind you. Upright vacuums stand tall and have a handle, which is used to push the vacuum. When cleaning carpets, the debris is removed through the foot or base of the unit. Most uprights also have a hose and on-board tools, which are typically used for hard to reach places and when cleaning furniture. At one time, canisters were thought to be easier to use for cleaning hard to reach places and for cleaning a larger variety of floors surfaces. However, the uprights of today have added cleaning features, such as bare floor height adjustments, brush roll on/off switches, and are easily maneuverable. In addition, the on board cleaning tools have made upright vacuums even more versatile.Although uprights are easier to use and more effective at cleaning larger areas in the home, they can still be a challenge when cleaning stairs. BISSELL’s Lift-Off offers the benefits of an upright, with a detachable canister that makes it easy to clean stairs and hard to reach places.
Canister Vacuum Cleaners
BISSELL canister vacuums are light and easy to maneuver. They’re great for stairs and other surfaces like curtains, upholstery, auto interiors, and more.
Cyclonic action and powerful suction provides thorough multi-surface cleaning.
- Bagless convenience: No more bags to buy or change EVER!
- Multi-surface cleaning: Easily go from cleaning carpets to hard floor surfaces with the flip of a switch
- Three-stage filtration: Dirt cup filters and a post-motor filter help to capture more fine dust and particles

The hose is about 5' long with a curved plastic tube on the end that makes a good handle. It seems to be good quality, though time will tell of course. Two 16" extension tubes and two attachments complete the package and work as you would expect them to. There could be more, but then it would be more expensive. Anyway, it is all a standard size and I have some parts from other vacuums that fit on this one just fine.
The retracting cord is a really nice feature. I am going to treat it very gently and keep my fingers crossed in the hope that it keeps working.
Lightweight and portable
Easy to empty dirt canister
The attachments are mediocre at best
Canister has to be emptied often
I ordered the Zing mainly because my German Shepherd (aka German Shedder) leaves fur tumbleweeds all over the hard floors in the house. They're hard to sweep up, and it is cumbersome to drag out the upright and attachments. I paid $42 for the Zing, and it was definitely worth the money. It has excellent suction and pulls up way more from my carpeted steps and inside my car than I would have thought possible. It is much more convenient than the upright for cleaning the hard floors.
The drawback is that the attachments are definitely not that great (though what would you expect for $42?) and I use the attachments that I got with my Simplicity upright 10 years ago instead of those that were included with the Zing. But, even with the not-so-great accessories, I would recommend this vacuum.
Am I glad I ordered this! It actually outp0erforms the old Kenmore in every way, plus no silly bags to deal with - just drop it in the trash and move on.
I can actually SEE the better cleanliness of my hardwood floorboards with this Bissel product, over that of the Kenmore! Also it only weighs
about eight pounds, and with the attachments assortment I also bought, I've got a first-rate cleaning machine for well under $100.00!
I heartily recommend this product to anyone that is in the market for a vacuum.
The second thing I did not like is how poorly it vaccumes on a very low pile, small (5x7) area rug we have. It does have a sliding suction adjustment piece at the top of the vaccume hose (next to the hand hold) to help with use on carpet, but it just does not make much of a difference in suction in my opinion. Maybe on one of those moddern super low pile or woven larger area rugs it might work better?
I bought this as a cheaper second vaccume to use in my finished, walk-out basement in stead of having to lug my large, more expensive, upright, up and down the stairs... I think I should have either bought something more expensive and better quality or I should have just continued with dragging the bigger one.
The things I did like was the ease of emptying the collection container by detatching it from the main body of the vaccume. And the retractible cord, which was very easy to use. Also, it is very light weight, easy and fun for the kids to use to help with chores.
It hasn’t lost any power, it’s small and lightweight. Probably the only reason for four stars rather than five is in the design. To empty the canister, remove the hose, remove from base, empty, put back on base and reattach the hose. I think having canister empty from the other side would be better, not having to remove the hose each time would reduce wear and tear on probably the most fragile part of the machine.
I’d buy again for hard floors, I would not buy if I had a lot of carpet as there isn’t a beater bar.
