Review

A generation of women have learned more about how to handle their men from Jackie's books than any kind of manual.

Millions buy Jackie Collins books. Impossible to put down.

About the Author

There have been many imitators, but only Jackie Collins can tell you what really goes on in the fastest lane of all. From Beverly Hills bedrooms to a raunchy prowl along the streets of Hollywood; from glittering rock parties and concerts to stretch limos and the mansions of the power brokers -- Jackie Collins chronicles the real truth from the inside looking out.

Jackie Collins has been called a "raunchy moralist" by the late director Louis Malle and "Hollywood's own Marcel Proust" by Vanity Fair magazine. With over 500 million copies of her books sold in more than 40 countries, and with some twenty-nine New York Times bestsellers to her credit, Jackie Collins is one of the world's top-selling novelists. She is known for giving her readers an unrivaled insiders knowledge of Hollywood and the glamorous lives and loves of the rich, famous, and infamous! "I write about real people in disguise," she says. "If anything, my characters are toned down -- the truth is much more bizarre."

THE BITCH is the story of two characters: Nico Constantine who married into wealth at a young age, and Fontaine Al Khaled, who also married into wealth. Both of them are single by the time they meet accidentally on an airplane. Instant attaction....
The novel of course has several subplots weaving in and out, with lots of gratuitous sex and outrageous plot twists. But that's expected from a Jackie Collins novel. Nico finds he's dead broke and spends the rest of the novel trying to get himself out of this mess (big time gambling debt). Fontaine in the meantime is trying to rejuvenate her London night club, while at the same time ignores all advances from Nico, although deep down she is very attracted to him.
For a quick light read and some trashy writing, THE BITCH is recommended.

I wanted to love this book. I'm hoping the later books are better. This one starts fast but lost momentum maybe 1/3 of the way in. I'm on a quest for the perfect beach read. Haven't found it yet.

Also, I have to say that I have a feeling I would have liked it better without the updates to bring it up to modern day. Having a modern-day reference thrown in abruptly seemed strange as the vibe was all 70s. Little details like the disco clubs, watching a movie on the airplane in first class, and the lack of new technology - these all clearly indicated that the book was really a 70s/80s-era book. And I think I would have more fun with it if it had gone whole-hog.

E. L. James needs to study Collin's technique in how to write a 'sexy' novel. James' 'How to' approach leaves her books flat. Collins, on the other hand, keeps her stories 'hot' because of the depth of her characters. Collins weaves her characters cleverly through a variety of antics that at times make the reader laugh, make them worry and then gives them a good sense of closure when you reach the last page. Well done! I'll read Collins anytime. She's a pro.

"The Bitch" is Jackie Collin's follow-up novel of "The Stud" which deals with the wealthy and beautiful Fontaine who owns a trendy nightclub in London. On a plane she meets the equally beautiful Nico, a rich and powerful man, but soon finds himself broke due to a severe gambling problem. The attraction between them is instant, but Fontaine, for some reason, resists him.

The book, like all Jackie's novels, is filled with hardcore sex scenes, beautiful scenery, bitchy dialogue and amazing plot twists.

Like "The Stud" "The Bitch" was turned into a motion picture starring Jackie's sister Joan Collins in the lead role. Unfortunately, "The Bitch" was not as successful as its predecessor.

In the early eighties when the home video market started to explode the caption on the VHS box read, "Joan Collins is The Bitch". Joan would have to get her lawyers to try and fight to stop this kind of publicity as she felt it was ruining her reputation.

I really enjoyed Jackie Collins’ book “The Bitch”. Las Vegas. A carousel town set in the middle of the desert. Blazing neon signs promise all the vices known to man, and then some. Devastatingly handsome ladies' man Nico Constantine hits town to make a killing at the casinos. But instead of tripling what's left of his dwindled fortune, he ends up losing everything, and owing the mob -- big time. Love is the last thing on their minds, but it may be their fate -- if their creditors don't get them first.
I received this product at a discount for my honest review and they are my own opinions, and I received no monetary gain for this review and I am not required to give a positive review. My feedback is sincere. I work very hard trying to write a meaningful and thoughtful review for each item. I hope that these reviews will be helpful to others.

This was my first book by J. Collins, and out of curiosity thought I would take a peek. I guess it was sort of what I expected. I actually assumed there would be more sex, and was happy to see there wasn't, but also found the story line so so and predictable. It was an okay read for the beach.

Love Jackie , wish I knew about these books or read them back when they first came out, they stand the test of time with the new current writers of erotic or hot and spicy books. If you haven't read any of her books,,, now is the time to start,,, won't let you down and well written,, not sex on every page but great reads.
