You’ll not want to miss out on this read.
That being said, I really didn’t like the main character Tanith. She was self described as this tough, kick a$$ female who didn’t need anyone, could do whatever she wanted (because she was just that tough), and have any man she wanted only to throw him away (broken) after a single use. However throughout both “Waiting For Darkness” and “Bite” she instead came off as mercurial going back and forth at random between this “strong” female lead and this “dramatic” whining, almost teen-angst, type character. It was contradictory and detracted from the plots in both novels.
In addition, Tanith quickly latched onto Jamison and Kieran, the two main male characters in the series of novels, despite being previously described as using men like tissues. This turned out to be very unfortunate for them as by the end of “Waiting For Darkness” Jamison ended up in the psych ward and by the end of “Bite” Kieran was in coma in the ICU and Tanith had done the additional bad deed of basically promising Jamison, who was still in the psych ward, up to a demon. Did I mention I disliked her character?
Both novels did have relatively decent plots providing the reader with action, a bit of humor and other stimuli. However by the end of chapter two of the first novel, and all the way through the second novel, I was really rooting for someone to take off Taniths’ head…
