After a zombie outbreak in London, the area has been quarantined and anyone who could afford to get out has left. Immune to a zombie's bite, the London werewolf pack has revealed their existence and now patrols the streets protecting the humans left in London. Alpha Seth helps rescue, human Vet Maisie from a zombie attack and finds himself infatuated with her spitfire personality.
What I Liked
Even though the book was short (89 pgs) it felt very full and I didn't feel like tons of things were left out due to page count. The characters were very engaging, especially Maisie. I loved how feisty she was and that she was going to do things her way. Even though she uses crutches to get around due to a permanently injured foot, she doesn't let anything get her down. Seth and Maisie's first meeting was also very funny and certainly unique. I'll definitely be reading the rest in the series.
What I Didn’t Like
I would have loved to have a longer book, that's all I can really say. I enjoyed the characters so much I didn't want the book to end.
I'll definitely be reading more of this author.
The heroine in Bite Me is kick-a** and fun to follow while the male lead makes me feel a touch competitive, which helped keep me engaged. I'm very glad to have spent the couple hours that I did reading it cover to cover in one-sitting (which was not the plan when I began).
My one complaint with PJ still stands...too short! Luckily with this series there are already two more books in the pipeline!
The only character with much background shown was Maisie, so she seems more of a real person. She has a great spitfire spirit. However, the relationship between her and Seth feels non-existent. There's no real chemistry shown between them. There are some explicit sex scenes.
The action moves along quickly, but there's not much of it. When the zombies attacked, I didn't feel any emotion from anyone. It's just not a book I'd recommend.
