1.0 out of 5 stars Smoked the first time i plugged in ! Glad it didnt burn my laptop.
By JustPlainDad@FL on March 11, 2015
Took a month or so to reach me, which is fine because it was mentioned so when i chose economy shipping. 3 stars there.
The seller was good in his communications. Probably from China. 3 stars for that too.

But the Product is plan Junk and dangerous.
Plugged my microsoft mouse and logitech keyboard and plugged it the "Hub". Laptop didnt detect on 2 of the Laptops USB ports.
Plugged the HUB on the 3rd one on the other side, and it couldn't find the correct driver. So I opened device manager, did driver update searching for best driver. Then I started doing my work. The smoke startled me. And I looked and saw that the smoke was from this HUB. Unplugged it, and it was almost boiling. The cable had become soft from the heat etc. after an hour now, my finger tips still feel a little burnt from the heat.

Once it cooled down, I was checking how to open and it opened up by itself. It was just a clip-on case over the circuit. Attached is the picture of what i saw inside. Seems to me that bad soldering of flimsy wires may have caused short circuit.

I would say skip this and buy a good one. the $8 you save is not worth your burnt laptop. So I wouldn't ask for a replacement.

Note: I had also bought a 10 port kinivo usb 2.0 hub for $10 from amazon. That works fine.

2.0 out of 5 stars False Advertising
By Galen on September 16, 2015
As has been stated in other reviews, this is not a high speed USB 2.0 hub; this hub tops out at 12 Mbps, which is the "full speed" rate of USB 1.1. When I opened the package, which mimics an actual USB 2.0 hub, to get to the circuit board, I found a clear culprit behind the inadequate transfer rate: clearly, whatever that black drop obscures isn't a USB 2 chip.

The only reason I didn't rate this with one star is because I don't actually intend to use it as a typical hub, and USB 1.1 may be enough for what I need. Still, this is designed to look like an authentic USB 2.0 hub -- and advertises itself as a USB 2.0 hub -- when it clearly is not a USB 2.0 hub.
