Well I've tested this with soup, and let me tell you, I'm eating my lunch 4 hours after heating it up and putting it in the pot (after following the pre-heat instructions) and my soup is the PERFECT temperature to eat, its not even lukewarm, its just right. I don't know what cold thing I would put in this, but I'm figuring the temperature insulation would work both ways if you pre-cool or pre-warm it per the directions.
I also tested the leak-factor which would have had me sending it right back if it failed. I tested it with water while I was washing it up, and tested it with the soup and there wasn't even a drop of moisture coming out of the seal. Just make sure you have the lid on tight enough, I would not want to see 17 oz of liquid coming out into my bag/car/wherever.
Cork top- I hope this holds up over time, I haven't done a lot of washing of cork to know it's durability, and since everything else on this thing is pretty fool-proof this is the only part I'm truly worried about.
Magnetic Spoon - I really like the spoon design, it's got a deep basin with a bluntish shape that works great for holding chunks of meat or vegetables. Holds the perfect bite as far as I can tell.
Size - The inside holds 17 oz, so after the insulation this guy is a pretty good size, it's nearly 5" wide across the open top. No big deal to me, but if you wanted something to fit in your pocket, this isn't it.
Overall, I am happy to have ordered a few of these for winter outings, or just taking some soup for lunch. The price might be a little high(and it's higher now than when I ordered it so watch for fluctuations) but I'm a sucker for good design, so it's worth it in my eyes. Hopefully these will last me for a very long time. Now back to my soup, before it gets cold!
This wonderful little thing does it all. It's just gorgeous. So pretty in fact that I sometimes use it at home. And the spoon solution is very elegant (plus the magnets are strong enough to actually keep the spoon attached).
Well worth the expense (which is actually a non-expense since I'm saving a lot by not eating out as much).
I also used it to take a warm dip that I made to a party and that worked great.
