Update 6/11/17 - The unit now has recording issues. Usually 3 or 4 files are corrupt every day when I go to transfer my videos. I've tried different memory cards with no luck. This unit is a piece of garbage.
I've had a mirror dash cam for the last couple years. It was a single camera unit, and it quit working. I had gotten used to having my driving and parking recorded , and it paid off last year when a lady backed into me while I was in class. I've only used this one a very short time, and so far it seems to be working as it should. If it craps out, I'll edit this review.
Something I used from my previous dashcam, and now this one. I bought a 20,000 mah USB battery for about $35 on Amazon. This has worked out GREAT. I'm surprised more people don't do it. Instead of the cord hanging down to my cigarette lighter for DC, looking terrible, I put the battery and cord up in my visor, all out of the way. The battery would last at least 12 hours, so even if I drove all day, it would be enough. And I don't have to worry about the dashcam draining my car battery, which was a concern for me. This dashcam is the same one as the other copies by other sellers, only this one was not only had the lower price but included a 16gb card. However I ordered a Sandisk 32gb card to use with it. Once I've used it for awhile, I'll add to this review.
The only 2 faults i have with it:
a) I bought this unit because it fitted over an existing mirror and was hoping to move it from car to car. I rent a lot of cars and thought it might come in useful. While the device has these clamps, and they hold the mirror on tight, its just a bad design that there is just not some simple lever or something you can use to lift the clamps. You have to fumble around trying to hold these 2 clamps up separately to get it onto the mirror. So I dont think I'll be swapping in quickly between cars.
b) Instructions come in 2 languages, one being English. They are not totally clear how to navigate through the menu, but once you work it out its pretty easy.
Would I buy another one of these, sure would for one of my kids when they start to drive.
Looking forward to playing around with it more.
The cameras have a good picture.
The unit fits nicely over the rear view mirror in my RAV4. I can adjust the unit without it popping off. It operates nicely as a rear view mirror.
There are a large number of issues I've got with mine, and there's no support site listed in the manual or anything, so no hopes of firmware updates resolving the issues.
1080p video... That's both cameras recorded in one video stream, side by side. Not horrible. I have both my cameras forward facing with just a hair of overlap and you get a REALLY wide view of in front of the car.
If you don't use the looping video, and leave this recording, it crashes at the 4GB mark due to the FAT32 file size limitation. I wish there was a longer length looping than the 2/5/10 minute options.
I turned on the night vision IR, but it doesn't seem to matter. I think in mine the LEDs simply don't work. I'm considering returning it for this reason.
Last night it worked well. Tonight after 3 hours of driving, only 2 of the video files were readable by Windows Media Player, Windows 10's built-in video player, or VLC. Glad I didn't need them.
