Black Ice Burning (Pale Queen Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 443 ratings

The Summer Kingdom has fallen to the Pale Queen, and it’s Claire’s fault. The Winter Kingdom faces destruction, and it’s her fault. Her mother is dead. Everything is her fault.

Once the designated assassin for Queen Mab, Claire is now nothing more than a humiliated mortal, haunted by her own failures. Abandoned by her former allies and stripped of her magic, Claire is banished to the Immortal Circus.

In place of this once-vibrant show now stands an empty husk. Performers who should be tethered to it for eternity are leaving, negating Winter’s last hold on the Dream. Someone is targeting Winter’s power by weakening its contracts—even Claire’s own. And it’s not hard to guess who’s behind it.

Power or no power, contract or no contract, Claire has an obligation to uphold. And with the fate of the worlds hanging in the balance, she takes on the hit she knows will be her last: the Pale Queen.

If you’re craving more after The Immortal Circus, this series will definitely satisfy them. Usually it takes books about halfway though to start getting exciting, but book 3 came in with a bang and maintained its excitement, intensity and badassness. Soo happy that this book was more than the typical 240ish pages. The ending was all around amazing, and definitely a great ending not only to the Pale Queen Series, but The Immortal Circus as well. Not to give any spoilers, but I’d love to read more of the aftermath of this final book, but I usually feel this way after finishing series, but again the ending to this series left me beyond satisfied compared to other books I’ve read. Hope you’ll like it just as much as I did!

I found this book quite dark compared to the first books in the series. The story was still amazing and the characters full of surprises. The violence was very graphic and to me not as good as the previous books in the series, but it certainly ended with a bang. Still a great read.

No I'm not crying, you're crying. Gods, I loved this book and this world so much, since I picked up The Immortal Circus all those years ago. I'm so happy to see it end (?) and yet so incredibly sad. This book might of been my favorite out of all the books, it was just so dark and heart breaking and yet paragraph after paragraph, I was fueled by hope. I loved all the characters. I loved meeting new ones and spending so much time with the old ones. I loved getting some of the backgrounds of them and see what fueled them in more detail. I loved seeing them happy and sad and mean. It made them all so much more real to me. This book just made my heart so emotional and happy. Now I need to find something to fill my book hangover that this was caused.

The entire trilogy was a pleasure to read...a actually just binged on reading the first book again. A new twist on the world of faerie, love and loss, rising of power and fall from grace, toss in demons, assassins multiple planes ld existence you have this series. Hopefully we get a prologue down the line these characters are ones just would like to re visit

I liked this series. Id say if you are a fan of the author or of the fantasy genre and have a sharp, biting sense of humor you'll enjoy these books. This particular book was pretty fast paced and felt like a lot was packed into a relatively short book, but it was still enjoyable. I don't want to give anything else away. Kahler is not my favorite or least favorite...he fals somewhere in the middle for me but he does do a good job creating characters you can get attached to. I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the epilogue but I found the resolution with the pale queen too abrupt. The entire discussion about how the pale queen was created seemed more like the author could not create an adequate explanation.

For the most part, I am glad reading this book. Actually I really enjoyed reading this book because there were times that I couldn't put the book down but you know a girl's got to sleep. I found myself very satisfied with the ending in that not only did I have any idea what was coming, I was also happy that while it was the so-called end of the trilogy, a little door was left open for new adventures

I really loved this series and the immortal circus. This was a great ending and I hope that perhaps a third spin-off series can be made. I actually started with the Pale Queen and then went and read the immortal circus after book 2 (then went back and reread books one and two of the Pale Queen to make sense of everything). Vivienne and Claire are such great characters. They are so different and reading both series actually gives you a different look into the same world without feeling like you are just rereading the same thing.

Garbage. I bought this because I wanted to know how it ended but honestly, not worth it. I should have just put this down after book one which wasn't particularly inspiring but I was sick and couldn't do much else.
