I do a ton of grilling and smoking of meat in the summer for family barbecues. I bought this electric knife for a BBQ rib competition. It may have help me come in first place in judging for appearance. It cut cleanly which helped with the overall appearance of my ribs. I really wish I would have purchased this sooner.
The handle is made of a good quality plastic. I actually dropped it while cutting my ribs and it was fine and in good working order. The blades are nice and sharp. Its much easier to use than a standard knife.
I was so busy during the competition to get pictures of it. However I was able to get some with my leftover winning ribs the next day. Check out the pics below.
Very easy to assemble: you simply click the blades into the handle. (If you have not used an electric knife before: the two blades are used at the same time. They go back and forth to cut the material. It's not like you have one blade and an extra. Just thought that might be a helpful clarification.) Locking switch is good for safety. I did not find the handle difficult to hold, as I saw other reviewers comment about a different brand knife, so I think this one is a good choice. The body of the knife did become quite warm during several minutes of being turned on and off every 10 seconds or so, but cooled quickly as soon as it was turned off for a longer period.I don't think that is unusual or any kind of a problem. Cutting a piece of meat, I don't think you would have it on for that long at a time anyway.
My only wish is that this one came with a case. It seems wise, and more convenient, to keep the blades out of the handle for storage, but of course you want them together. For the time being I will just use the box it came in, and see if I can find something sturdier. It does have a plastic sheath for the blades so that you don't cut yourself reaching for them.
Very very pleased and hope it lasts (if it doesn't I will try to update this review). Plus, it will be nice for the holiday turkey (well cleaned) but I think mainly I will be using it for this craft purpose.
