The first few times I used it, there was a burning electrical smell, and I needed to press the frozen button several times before one would take. I've seen these issues mentioned in a couple of the other reviews. However, for me, after a few days both of these issues never occurred again. My other complaint is with the power cord. The cord is the correct length, but it exits from the front bottom, rather than the back bottom. So if you plug in in the back (like nearly everyone does), then the cord can't stretch far from the back of the unit . This is mostly an issue if you place it on a counter with deep cabinets above and want to have the toaster out away from the wall, so there are not cabinets above.
I tested this 2-slice toaster using my Kill A Watt meter. Here are the results:
Toast: 850 W, 7.12 A
Frozen: 840 W, 7.08 A
Bagel: 840 W, 7.08 A
Summary: It doesn't look like the frozen or bagel settings really do much different than the regular toast setting. I'm guessing that the frozen setting just runs longer, but I didn't measure timing. It runs significantly hotter than my old 4-slice B&D model running at just over 700 watts. This means it overheats my frozen items and causes light burning, even on the lowest number setting. But if you are just trying to get an average slice of brown toast from a room temperature loaf, it will probably work fine.
In general, it appears that 2-slice toasters run with higher wattage than the wattage of just one side of a 4-slice toaster. The Black and Decker models do this, and I saw that the specs on a particular line of Hamilton Beach toasters are similar (higher wattage for the 2-slicer). I'm not sure why this is so.
After using this 2-slicer and not being happy with it, I ended up getting another B&D 4-slice model that was almost identical to my old one. Now I'm happy.

This toaster works pretty well. It's nice having the "Cancel" button instead of feeling like you have to break the handle to pop it up and the bagel setting is neat but I... Read morePublished 3 days ago by Amazon Customer
Although the casing is plastic, it appears to look like black metal. It toasts evenly and quickly, just love it!Published 18 days ago by schoolmarm
This is my 2nd one. The 1st failed after 5 years or so. Looks good and is well built. Only 4 stars because it only went 5 years of light use.Published 1 month ago by FrankLee
We are enjoying the toaster and the nice even browning of the bread.Published 3 months ago by Becky S. Curtis
You have to be very careful with the settings on this one. Other than that, it's a good toaster.Published 5 months ago by Kaz
