I purchased this scale 2/2/2015. Yesterday morning my wife and I tried to weigh ourselves and the scale kept misidentifying her as me (despite the 100 pound difference). After repeated attempts, we could not get a consistent reading and it would not produce any statistics beyond weight. I change the batteries and even went so far as to delete our profiles in the scale. Still does not work. After a little more than 6 months, this scale stopped working.
I've learned that when you're going to use it to record your weight and information to the app, it's best to have your phone turned on and the camera ready. Once it has detected your weight and other measurements it cycles past the dot matrix fairly quickly; the problem is not that it doesn't come back to it so you can focus your camera on it, but that if you don't stand on the scale the backlight will turn off shortly and make it impossible for your camera to see the matrix code. My scale is positioned against a wall, so it is difficult to remain on the scale and use the phone to scan the code without stepping back, but if you were to remain on the scale you'd likely avoid this difficulty altogether.
The scale itself is high quality and seems well built. It is accurate to at least one tenth of a pound, as I recently confirmed with a trip to the doctor's office. It's a nice, cheap way to get into keeping track of weight and health measurements.
I'd buy it again.
It works pretty well. The blue LED screen is cool. It's very accurate as well. The only thing I wish it would do is connect to my phone via Bluetooth.
8/22/2015 update: Yeah, the scale is crap. Now it gives incorrect readings, sometimes it doesn't even cycle through the measurements; it will just show your (incorrect) weight and the code. Should have spent more money on a better product.
About the scale: on the first weigh, it shocked me how high my weight was, but it seems consistent, so I guess I just weigh that much. :D The Body Fat % is the same reading I get from my handheld device, and it's much more convenient to have it read at the same time as my weight, + it has the bone density, water & muscle % that my handheld doesn't give. Very helpful. A great feature (once I got the technique down) is the sync with the app. It's not a fancy app, but it's great to see my daily progression without having to write anything down. For this scale, it requires the app taking a picture of the code, which only takes a few seconds.
My only concern is that my son stepped on the scale & it thought it was me (at the moment we're 8 lbs apart); I have to work with getting him set up with his own user account, and as we both progress in our goals (he wants to weigh more, and I less) the scale should have no trouble recognizing only me. I'll update the review if we have any trouble with that. The manufacturer has sent follow-up emails with contact information for support, which I like.
