This is a great story and really introduces a different culture. I have never been to South America but after reading the book I feel like I have spent time there. It's a quick read but extremely well written with terrific attention to detail

As a Canadian, resident in ecuador, I have lived and played in the Ecuadorian amazon for the past two years. This story, set in the Cuyabeño, rings true in every respect, and keeps you wanting to turn the pages. The authors characters are great and there is a special ending. enjoy, i will be reading his other selections. jim wood.

A riveting read! A strong start with an even stronger finish. You can feel the heat of the jungle as the boat goes down the river and you want to keep reading to see how it will all end. Mr Reid's characters are strong and you believe in them, empathize with them. The Black Dog himself you could picture perfectly. Well done.

J.D. Reid has a great writing career ahead of him. I have read each of his tales, including the very special "The Girl on the Ferry," and each is a treasure of writing and storytelling. I am delighted he has started a second career after a career in physics. Everyone who reads will benefit.

Like the other stories by J.D. Reid, this one was well written with great attention to details. I could feel myself on the boat when the bow wave occurred with the quick stops. Mr. Reid pays such attention to details that you are in the scene, in this case, the jungle. You can feel the heat and hear the rain. Well done!

The black and white acceptance of death and life as seen through the eyes of their guide brings jungle law into the lives of very different characters all joined together in the eco-tour. You feel the mood of the jungle through the response of the characters and the threat of unknown characters. Descriptions are authentic and convincing. The twists and turns of their journey are matched by the twists and turns in the story as you get to know the people better.
