The picture for this contact paper looks great online, but like another reviewers' comment, it does not look THIS authentic once you see it in person. The Home Depot carries the same item, also from the Contact Paper brand, with the same faux leather stamped print, in a larger quantity (18" x 15') for about $8. I was ripped off, don't let the same happen to you.

The quality of this paper is as good/thick as any other contact paper I have, and so far I can agree to the product's "tough" and "durable" claims. It looks very good and the texture is great; people think it really is leather, though on close inspection it's obviously too thin to pull that off. It was very easy to trim and apply, and indeed wipes clean. I didn't give it five stars because a good foot of it is wasted on the inside of the roll; it's wrinkled there and detached from the backing, which means air gets in and you have not-so-sticky adhesive, and the paper needs a lot of pressing. In order to stay put it required extra adhesive. It might be better if they sold bigger rolls that were wrapped around cardboard like gift wrapping so it was usable to the very end, because I had to throw away the last foot.

Update 10/9/15: It's been five years and still looks as good as it did the day we applied it. We're in here to order more, crossing fingers in hopes they've done something about that wrinkled last foot...

I would not order again from this person.
This contact paper doesn't stick very well for one. Plus the fact that when I had already cut into the paper, at the end of the roll, there were small rips and dust. It was as if it had been used before, rolled back up then reshipped to someone else. This happened to all 3 rolls. I figured it was a glitch in the 1st one, to late to do anything since I'd already cut into it. Then the 2nd and 3rd one, same thing, just dust, lint on 2nd and 3rd. It wasn't what I expected from what was supposed to be "new".

This is not the 1st time Contact has let me down either, not this particular person, but contact paper.

I had a piece of headliner that covers my sunroof rip away in my Vintage BMW. I needed a quick fix.. since I have Black Leather Interior, I decided a faux black material may work? So I received the roll very quickly by the way and cut the piece I need. (I did experiment with smaller pieces first) Realizing that you have a built in contact and this being a automotive application, I used a standard contact cement on one side (interior sunroof cover) and then pealed away the contact for the Faux Black paper and applied. It looks like a piece of Leather! Beautiful. I did spray with a clear acrylic laquer to make sure it will not chip away. But it really does look like textured leather and it is easy to use!

If you're expecting faux leather you'll be disappointed. This isn't the twenty-first century quality of faux leather; more like twentieth century textured vinyl though not as smelly. For reference, my project was turning a paperback book I love into a hardcover, using this as a faux leather exterior. Meaning that it is handled and up-close--so its deficiencies are obvious and it's a bit disappointing. For projects where it won't be handled, this would be a cost-effective leatherette solution.

This contact paper is pretty legit. I used it to dress up an ikea dresser that I would up buying in a color I loathed. I used it to create faux leather detailing (as one would do with a faux leather contact paper I guess). The grid on the back is helpful for cutting, and it's sticky but not craaaazy sticky, you know what I mean? Like, you don't have to be afraid of it, but you don't want to go in without a game plan, either. It mostly stuck to the fake ikea wood without any problem, except for a two corners that I just used that cheap little kid school glue stick on. Nooo problemo. I haven't had to remove it so I can't speak to that effect. However, I give it five stars because it turned a cheap ikea dresser from something that caused me a low-grade annoyance every time I looked at it into something that I maybe actually kind of like.

I have so many things to say about this contact paper I was hesitant about purchasing. Let me address what everyone in previous comments have been mentioning, which is this contact paper being solid black. This paper is exactly what it says, Black Faux Leather Contact Paper. The photo actually scared me because it appeared to be a dark brown rather than black. However, it is black! NOT solid black. In the photo the flash captured the print of the paper. There is a print on this contact paper as seen in the photo, however the print you see is very very small. Nothing tacky or large or overwhelming at all. The feel of this paper is very leathery. And again it is black, NOT solid. The paper is beautiful! I purchased one and wish I'd purchased 3 more which I'll be doing shortly. It sticks well you just need to pressed down firmly! Pressing firmly will help eliminate air pockets. Air pockets are very common with contact paper. Have another person helping you with this, especially if your covering a pretty large surface, such as myself. Again beautiful paper! I'm ordering 3 more. PS It wipe off very easily as well. Just use a damp cloth, nothing with dripping water. Just a warm cloth and wipe area softly. No need to use any pine or cleanser. If anyone would like me to show them my photos email me smith.careers@gmail.com
Oh, and last thing I used very small black nails to tack down the ends to ensure my edges dont lift etc I would be some nails also and nail down with hammer. Hope this helps. October 2012
