After reading the first book in the series, I was eager to get my hands on the second book. It did not disappoint. If anything, I enjoyed it more than the first book. You must read book one before you read this.
In a world ending apocalypse, single dad and former child star, Cody, is just trying to keep his daughter, Rachel, safe. But, in a world where nearly everything and everyone has turned on eachother, Cody must place his trust in others to help him.
The book deals with love and loss, and the depths of the human will to survive. As more is revealed about the evil behind everything, we learn that Rachel might just be the key to saving the world, but only if Cody and his friends can first save her from those who have given up all hope, betrayed humanity, and have in defeat, agreed to work for the very evil that has destroyed the world.
The book is fast paced and action driven, the characters are compelling, and the tidbits of information sprinkled in about the enemy are enough to keep the reader in suspense the whole time. Can’t wait for book 3 to come out.
I highly suggest starting at book 1 though, Black Storm, before getting stuck into this.
In this book many there are many revelations, and everyone's motives become suspect. How can you tell who you can trust? Where did Black Fever originate and how can they fight it? What's so special about one little girl? Cannot wait for book 3!
Having never read the first book, I found this one disappointing. A good series should pull you into the story and make you want to go back to read the earlier books, but this fell short. Without the background of the first book the plot was confusing, leaving the action feeling forced, and the characters were all hollow shells. Either skip this, or make sure to read the books in order.
I received an ARC of this book.
This is the 2nd book of the series. I was looking forward to it after reading book 1; however I was a bit disappointed in this book. While I enjoyed the style of writing I did find this book far fetched. I enjoy reading a book that is believable and I think this one stretched my imagination a little too far.
I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review.
