Jenna Murphy left college during her sophomore year, after a date rape that had gone bad. She found solace in journaling her thoughts in poems. She currently takes care of her hypochondriac mother and the visitor experience, The Mystery Spot, her late father created. She is surprised to encounter Shane, who she knew from both being in a college class.
Shane was impressed with her during college, losing his heart to her. Regrettably, he lives with the guilt of knowing who raped Jenna, his twin brother. Shane offers Jenna a chance to earn some badly needed money by helping him to write the script for the sitcom. Shane’s twin brother returns to destroy Jenna, setting into motion a number of unfortunate events to harm her. Love was not enough to save their relationship as Shane fears he too has those same evil genes of his twin. However, stubbornness could win the day.
I highly recommend this book to all readers. The characters were well written and complex. The plot was riveting and kept my attention to the very end.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
There were some great romantic parts, as Shane helps Jenna build some confidence in her writing skills. And the drama that unfolded later on in the book had me on the edge of my seat. This book had a great combination of romance, drama, and quirky characters that just fit together perfectly.
As a resident of the Black Hills, I am also impressed with the author's depth of knowledge about the general area. It makes me want to explore my own back yard a little more. However, the best part of the book is the actual story.
I did receive a free copy in exchange for an honest review. I am hooked on the series so I bought the next book in the series to see where it goes next.
