The author, Debra Salonen, has cleverly given us stories of three main characters, Jessie, Cade, and his father, Buck. Each of their stories are tied together by the same type mistakes, emotions, and issues challenging their relationships. Life is further complicated by a stalker who has managed to hurt Jessie, and appears to want to do so much more to her. Cade and Jessie are growing close and exploring their feelings for each other, while trying to keep everyone safe from the stalker.
Unfortunately, there are a moderate amount of syntax errors and typos; a little distracting, but this is still an enjoyable read.
This series is quick to read, entertaining, and well worth the reading. I love Debra's books
My first impression of the team that includes Jessie and her twin Remy is that these people are rather flaky and undependable. Rancher Cade on the other hand lost his wife in a barrel racing accident, one of the least dangerous rodeo events I would have thought.
I’d not heard of Parkour until it showed up in a short story I read a few years back but videos of people free running are available online and it appears to be something superfit individuals engage in. Something someone young and still convinced of their invincibility would try. As injuries and the stiffness of age creep up I’d expect most to cut back unless your name is Kneival, of course.
Both these people have dysfunctional families. The title Black Hills Rancher is misleading. If Cade is a rancher we never get to see him ranch, how he spends his work day never comes up. We get almost no sense of the ambiance of the Black Hills as a setting, this story could have taken place almost anywhere. The pair have sex but we are spared detailed descriptions.
The book itself is in need of a great deal of editing. Had I paid for it I’d feel cheated.
