Veronica Clark is actually one of the best friends of Black historians and historians in general. In this limited reprint, her research is eye-opening! The photo of her on the book's back cover shows a smiling, young woman. Subsequent pictures show a more sober Veronica K. Clark and considering the vehemence of her critics, this is no surprise. The book shows a side of Hitler and the Axis, that escapes or is ignored, or plowed under: that much of the resistance to the Communism, English imperialism could be found among Axis soldiers. Germany, was the jewel of the Continent and, like Japan in the east, the greatest bulwark against Anglo-American, planned communism of Europe. The pictures can not be denied! Kudos to her for her courage and depth of research! Hitler, was a pragmatic politician. A man of his times. Clark makes this plane and lifts a veil on his reputation that is, even to this day, still held in lowest esteem, without the research of this urbane, young historian.

First off, let me say that this isn't a book for people who have their opinions set in stone. If you're one of those who believe that Nazi Germany was a totally evil empire made up of only Aryan supermen, or if you believe that there was no holocaust, you won't like this. Ms Clark has demonstrated very well that the Axis forces, especially Nazi Germany, was very diverse, and has backed up this premise with thorough documentation. War is hell, and your enemy's enemy is your ally. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that it was much too short. I recommend this to any serious historian who can keep an open mind.

This book is certainly not for those who envision nothing but pure evil upon hearing the words "Nazi Germany."

A nice scholarly look at aspects of the period that most historians overlook- lest we forget that good pious communist Russians killed twice as many people than ever died in the holocaust.

Being very interested in the history of the Third Reich, and in illuminating details such as the experience of Afro-Germans under the Nazis, I thought that this book would provide some insight into a little researched subject. However on further inspection, the links that this book has to the paranoid world of Holocaust revisionism, with its subtext of the rehabilitation of National Socialism as some sort of benign dictatorship, I was put off completely. Serious historians recognise the fact that the Nazis were ideologically inconsistant in many areas, not least in their racial policies, and that they were both pragmatically flexible and opportunistic, but that does not change the indisputable facts of their racism, or the Genocide of European Jewry. I suggest that serious students of history, whether they buy this book or not, purchase a copy of ' Hitler's African Victims' by Raphael Scheck (Cambridge University Press,2006) as a scholarly antidote to any notion that Hitler and his cohorts believed in anything like 'diversity', as we know it today.Hitler's African Victims: The German Army Massacres of Black French Soldiers in 1940

Holocaust Denial with a Twist

Though not a professional historian, I have been engaged in research on German attitudes toward black troops for nearly forty years, wrote a Master's thesis on the topic, and have done extensive research on the topic in the a variety of German archives, and in the popular German press of the 20's, 30's and 40's.

I give this book one star for "history."

In my view, purchasers should research this press, the authors associated with it, and those offering positive reviews here on Amazon.com, VERY carefully before sending them money. I, for one, regret supporting the organization.

As an example of a particular point of view, the book is interesting . . . and, if one is researching the mindset of the authors and its supporters, useful as a primary source.

The author, while citing her "expertise" and extensive reading in German, apparently hasn't read (or cited) much at all about German, and particularly Nazi, attitudes toward black people.

The press itself (and the websites I've found associated with its stable of contributors) appears to be devoted to defending German National Socialism in general, denying that racism was a central tenet of the party and its leadership, and either denying, defending or minimizing the holocaust.

At the very least, before purchasing, one should Google Veronica (or Verohnika, or Veronika) Kunzlar Clark) and Mr. Berg . . . and draw your own conclusions.

i bought this book and pt 2 also together hoping for a serious treatment of a much ignored part of ww2 german history...30 seconds after opening the 1st volume i knew i had been had...can any rational,thinking,intelligent person consider this "writing" to be anything but a sick joke..a weak attempt at low humour?...incredidibly bad..sophomoric and juvenile...asking for an impossible suspension of disbelief..i literally laughed out loud so many times that i thought maybe the totality of the idiocy contained in this tome of excrement was intentional..but i don't think the "author" is that crafty. easiest the two worst wastes of money since i went all in with a pair of dueces...ugh....

Loved the sample of the book i got from kindle, not my usual read but kept me very interested, very easy to read and the writng was not "textbookie". A fun book if you are interested in WWII. The $20 price seems a bit steep, haven't bought the full version yet, not sure if I want to spend tha much.
