A new era for the Black Panther starts here! Written by MacArthur Genius and National Book Award winner TA-NEHISI COATES (Between the World and Me) and illustrated by living legend BRIAN STELFREEZE, "A Nation Under Our Feet" is a story about dramatic upheaval in Wakanda and the Black Panther's struggle to do right by his people as their ruler. The indomitable will of Wakanda -- the famed African nation known for its vast wealth, advanced technology and warrior traditions -- has long been reflected in the will of its monarchs, the Black Panthers. But now the current Black Panther, T'Challa, finds that will tested by a superhuman terrorist group called The People that has sparked a violent uprising among the citizens of Wakanda. T'Challa knows the country must change to survive -- the question is, will the Black Panther survive the change?

I thought the Illuminati arc and New Avengers fleshed out the society in Wakanda well. But this series is going to do the world building that Black Panther deserves. Awesome writing and a dynamic art style that is refreshing to see again. #WeAreWakanda

I will keep this simple by saying thank you Ta-Nehisi Coates. I truly loved this book! It built up a rich narrative that pulled me in through crafted, action packed visuals and beautiful silhouettes. A well spent experience, especially since this was my first comic book to enjoy on digital media.

I really like the idea of Black Panther facing an internal threat. It really doesn't make sense that such an advanced society would accept the idea of monarchical rule unquestioningly (I also question the clothes they're wearing, but OK, I'll rock with the vision for a minute).

Panther is confused and distracted -- possibly by the wrong thing -- in trying to figure out how to return his country to a state he recognizes. This is an interesting place for him to be, plotwise.

I'd also like to shout out Stelfreeze's art and Martin's coloration. This is a really vivid Wakanda.

Can't wait to see what this team does next.

The last page.

It was 3:30 in the morning when I saw it and I had to bite my lip to keep from screaming out loud. This is the best thing. I needed this tonight. Thank you, thank you, thank you, this is everything.

I wanted to experience a contemporary comic book and since Black Panther is coming out soon I chose this one. I liked the graphics but found myself wanting more of a storyline. Perhaps this was setting the stage for more depth in future issues.
