Upon reading Black Soul, it is clear that Odessa is a Christian Author and her work is very relevant to our contemporary days. One might have similarly been misguided by J.K. Rowling, whose is much more proficient in hiding the spiritual nature of her writing in her wizarding series.
While I myself am not a romance author, I do believe that Ms. Black’s “Divine Justice” narratives fall squarely in the center of subject of much of my own writing.
I am thrilled that Odessa had personally invited me read this book, and just like discovering a new musical band that you like, I look forward to the joy of reading all of her previous works.
I just finished the book... Loved it! You made me cry not once but twice and almost a 3rd time...lol Now I have to know when the next book is due...lol Great job and I love the cover!
Souleater Noah has resigned himself to die – until he unwillingly allows caretaker Caroline into his life. She knows just how to handle his anger and moods, and little by little she erodes the walls he's built. However, with an old enemy still on the loose, Noah's plan comes with increasingly higher stakes. If Noah goes through with it, he may be sacrificing the one woman who's able to save him.
I felt for Noah's character. He's truly stuck between two bad choices: live and allow the soul of his ex-girlfriend to languish in limbo, or die and put Caroline (and eventually, the world) at risk. I understood his desire to die, especially at first, although as the story develops it becomes less clear that he's making the right choice.
I was happy to see how Caroline's character developed as the story progressed. At first she seemed a touch naive, but later we get to see some scenes from her POV, and she turns out to have both backbone and moral compass, and also an extremely difficult decision of her own to face. Additionally, the romance simmered quite a bit before developing into a full-on relationship, and when it did develop, it was pretty steamy (though not explicit). The book was genuinely hard to put down, and I know because I tried unsuccessfully a couple of times! I ended up reading the book in two sittings.
The one caveat I'd make for readers of this book is that the beginning (where Noah is suffering from paralysis) is a bit slow. I didn't think it was enough to deduct a star, though, and I'd happily recommend this book to anyone who's interested in a generally fast-paced read featuring angels, romance and a lot of harrowing decisions.
Note: I received this copy of Black Soul from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Amazing. Angels but dark and twisted. I loved every second of this book and couldn't put it down!Read more
