"...a gripping read...a story about passion, greed, betrayal, evil and, as much one of courage, honor, and hope...The author skillfully engages the reader..."
"...In truth, I became so absorbed in my reading at one point that I startled when my dog stood and nosed me for attention. I found myself wanting to know what lay next for the passengers and how much worse their plight could be..."
- Author Glenn Starkey
"...Spine Chilling...great character descriptions and gave everyone excellent personalities making me feel that I was actually on board the ship."
- Lynn Thompson

Do you believe in ghosts? The Devil? Rivers' created powerful and believable characters who sailed the Black Witch to the depths of despair and beyond. They were not all human. The Black Witch had me reaching out to touch something real more than once. Balasco will scare you to the tips of your toes! Is he real or not?
You'll shake your head in disgust at the lengths we humans will go to "have it all." Does good win over evil? Not always. The Black Witch picks and chooses who wins and who loses. Rivers casts a spell that lingers long after the last page.
P.S. If you have to go outside after dark, take a flashlight, a BIG one! Great read, highly recommended! Thanks, Micheal, for your spooky tale. I look forward to more.
Ah, but a very dark secret hides beneath her beauty. The original owner refused to pay any of the workers for their labors. One of the builders places a curse for all who have any business with her no matter what the time period.
Do you believe in tales of the depths? Is there an unseen force hiding in the Bermuda Triangle? Can a ship travel the portals of time giving the looks of pristine condition despite the fact she's been written off the ship registry's as salvaged? Arh, those are the questions one will have to venture out and answer for themselves.
If you like a book that will have you seeing ghosts and hauntings, or perhaps you enjoy the vernacular from old salts of the past-the men who charted and tamed the seven seas? If you answered yes to any of those questions, than wait no longer and grab a copy. Be forewarned of the Ships Owners offering a trip of a lifetime. It may be your last!
About halfway through the book I was happy to find I couldn't put it down. I read a lot of indie books and there have been only a handful that stoked the page turning passion.
Many of my favorite book elements were at play here: I love ocean adventures, a good mystery, tales of old schooners, ghosts, tragedy, suspense and relationship drama.
My only complaint is that I wonder what the characters looked like.
I recommend this book and will read other by the same author.
Dorian Coe fell hard for the schooner that debuted as The Black Witch. He was willing to use all of his money to buy it. His long time friend decided to help him out financially because he too fell under the spell of the lovely lady of the sea. Had they been in their right mind, maybe they would have heeded the warnings from the old ship's logs.
I learned many nautical terms as Mr. Rivers shared the details of the schooner and the voyage. While I enjoyed the tale that was weaved there was something that kept me from fully loving it. I feel certain though that anyone who is into sailing and 'ghost stories' will love this book.
Warning: This is for Mature Audiences due to Violence, Sexual Situations, and mild Adult Language.
The fact that Micheal definitely knows the terminology of ships and the sea helps make the frights more real. He knows a kitchen from a galley, a cabin from a room, and a deck from a floor.
He also knows the salty lingo of the story's veteran sailors.
The real star is the supernatural terror Micheal unleashes on his unsuspecting characters. Obviously, I can't detail too much of it here without spoiling. But it's the writer's job to make problems for his characters. Micheal does.
So much so, that a dangerous touch-and-go encounter with Nazis almost seems like a welcome relief!
The story is in some ways reminiscent of Harlan Ellison's horror/sf classic "I have no mouth and I must scream," and in other ways, Stephen King's "Christine."
Frankly, I love a good damnation story, and Micheal delivers. Chills galore!
