I don't usually do reviews but after finishing Black Wolf on Tour, I feel compelled to weigh in my thoughts. Normally, I'm big into classic fiction like Charles Dickens and Jane Austen but I decided to try something different and stumbled upon the Black Wolf series. The first two books were enjoyable but the plausible storyline of the third one, Black Wolf on Tour, really hit close to home with me. Magnolia Belle does an instrumental job of making the reader bond with the characters, rooting for them - Joaquin and Jade in this case. The tragedy felt too real, leaving me lachrymose. That is brilliant when a writer can do that! It makes me wonder if she personally knew someone who endured this kind of tragedy. I read Magnolia Belle's biographical blurb that she graduated from college in the late 70s and is from Texas. The reason why I'm bringing these two facts up makes me wonder if these two facts influenced her in the storyline of Black Wolf on Tour. First, I saw a similarity with the 1970 film, Love Story, which has a similar storyline and would have been a film Belle would have been familiar with when she was younger....maybe there was a coincidence? Second, since Belle is from Texas, she had to be cognizant of the tragic death of singer Selena, which I also see similarities. No matter what influenced her, this novel is a quick page turner that delves deeply into the souls of the main characters, making the reader bond with them. On the surface, this book appears to be a light romance. But, if you dig deeper, Black Wolf on Tour demonstrates the humanity of all the characters and how unfair life can be. This book is a gem that makes one ponder the ephemeral nature of life.

First let me admit that I didn't read this series in order but still had no problems but I have actually read Black Wolf: Loco Lobo before this one and it told Joaquin's story after the events in this one.

Being the youngest of the brothers he's had it all in one way or another, some things you get the feeling that like most youngest siblings he'd rather do without. Being the drummer in a hot band however Joaquin has also had his pick of any female that he liked. Picking and choosing at a whim until he meets Jade. I found the emotional difference between him in this novel and Loco Lobo outstanding. Ms. Belle took a young, brash man used to getting what he wanted when he wanted it in this one to the more mature character readers will find in the next one. Joaquin and Jade are beautifully written and the reader will pull for them as Jade wonders if she can have a future with a man that she knows if more used to the fast life and then life interfers and we watch things shatter. I will not spoil that for readers but even though I knew what should have happened I still choked up. Very emotional as readers are witness to the events that force Joaquin to grow up fully.

Ms. Belle has written another powerful, touching and excellent book for this family.

Black Wolf: On Tour continues the story of four brothers. It tells the story of Joaquin, the youngest Black Wolf brother. As the band experiences fame and fortune, he loses his way in the romance department. Going from girl to girl, each labeled as a "drive-thru," until the band's photographer Jade catches his eye. Jade begins to like him for who he really is, but isn't certain if she can trust the player she knows him to be. As they fall in love, and "Quin" finally gives in and pledges himself to Jade, tragedy happens. I've chosen not to give away what happens in my review, though.

Magnolia Belle has an incredible talent for making you love her characters. As I read, they all seemed more and more like people I knew. Familiar characters, who I began to care about. I expected a gentle romance about how one woman's love turned around a boy going from girl to girl, but instead found myself reading about two people in love and how they dealt with a dark tragedy. Very well written, and highly recommended for anyone who wants a good cry! Definitely a must read for fans of the Black Wolf Books, and I definitely include myself as a fan!

The Black Wolf boys are growing up. Their career is reaching new heights. Their music is tighter and more cohesive. Their natural ability to interpret each other's music and mood makes their concerts legendary. Their faithful followers are increasing in numbers all across the country. What could better?

Along with growing comes dividing. The brothers have found sharing a house too confining, especially with in-laws adding to their numbers. Along with the differences in their ages, the growing experience differs with each brother.

Caleb, lead guitar and vocals, and wife Sarah, each with separate careers, discover finding time to be married similar to a three-ring circus. They make it look easy and they take it seriously.

Matthew, keyboards and vocals, has met the girl of his dreams and is "fixin' to" find out first hand what being married is all about. Caleb and Sarah make it look so easy.

Jay, bass guitar and backup, is third in line and the most quiet of the bunch. He lends a sympathetic ear and gives good advice when asked. Jay watches, listens, learns, yet contributes his share of practical jokes with the others.

Joaquin, drummer, is the youngest of the four brothers. Baby brother enjoys the spoils of being the youngest. Or does he? This prize position comes with 5 parents (mother, father, and 3 older brothers) and more advice, head shaking, and finger wagging than he can endure. In less than 21 years, he's managed to be part of the rock culture in Texas and life is easy - up to a point. However, there are rarely easy lessons in life and Joaquin gets the opportunity to learn this the hard way.

The story brings the Black Wolf family together in different ways than they've experienced before. Its fast paced, intricate, and keeps you hanging on for more.
