If you have a cable lock, you will stop only the most casual of thieves. Anyone with a simple lock cutter will break cables in 1 second. U locks need a lot more time and this lock has something most don't, a hex shape and double sided lock. This means that for the size and weight you are carrying, a thief would have to cut the lock twice in order to get in, because it can't be pulled apart or spun with just one cut in it.
I would still recommend using some other type of protection too, like a cable lock, or frame lock. But when it comes to U locks, this is very hard to beat at this price, size, and weight. It feels heavy and solid but not crazy heavy. This is about the heaviest I would care to put on my bike.
The mounting bracket is actually quite cool and can attach to the lock from the side or top, but it can only mount to a larger piece of bike, so I mount mine thru the bike rack. The lock is nicely coated with a rubbery material to avoid scratches.
I think this is a great size too, without being too big. To me this is a very underrated lock.
I do not use the included mount, I found. a way to lock it onto my frame that does not interfere with pedaling. I read other reviews about faulty key mechanisms. I've used it daily for about two weeks, so far so good.

It feels sturdy and comes with extra lock keys. My only problem is that it didn't come with hex keys for the carrier attachment thing.Published 3 months ago by Ryon M. OMara
Sticks a little, but I'm in love with hexagons, so I'll deal with it until it breaks in a little more.Published 4 months ago by Jaxter
this is heavy duty. I think that it would make a thief prefer to steel someone else bike just by looking at it.Published 6 months ago by Eric M. Harding
