The many revelations of this book show what the eventual classified release of information will prove the truth of one man's crusade. Well written, but dry. Amazing detail of the proceedings of the day.
This book flips almost everything you knew about Joe McCarthy. The author points specifically to the powerful people in Government that wanted this outing of Communists within the Government agencies to stop. And exactly how each did this, including Truman and Eisenhower who effected secrecy thru their own dictate. There is so much to learn in this book it is irrestible once you start.
I'm only halfway through M. Stanton Evans' "Blacklisted by History" and I find it difficult to put the book down. I was a teenager during Senator McCarty's tenure in Washington, D.C. and didn't have an opinion of him at the time. Right now I seem to see a similarity in our current federal government and the direction it took then; more so a similarity in the so-called main stream media.
A teacher of mine once asked, "What if you discovered that your entire belief system was total nonsense? All wrong?" Reading Evan's book, that thought keeps reappearing.

He was maligned because he sought to expose the Left's malevolence and fraud. But, being a wise man, McCarthy gathered the evidence, and guarded his language. M.Stanton Evans, the author, was rigorous in his study of McCarthy, and exposes all the myths with diligence and veracity. All American students of political science should be required to read this book. All American citizens should read it too. A clearly written story of good vs. evil.
