What a great start to a new series. I need more!

Teal returns to her hometown after being away for 2 years only to discover she’s not cured of her blackouts. Her father believes Dare is the boy who caused them. When Teal crashes in the swamp where she was found barely conscious years ago, Dare pulls her from the wreckage. She wants to rid herself of the blackouts, so against her dad’s wishes, she employs Dare’s help to recover her missing memories. As she remembers and draws closer to the truth, the danger for both she and Dare grows. Great characters and a fast moving plot. Dare is the best book boyfriend.

The story kept me guessing until the end, and the Outer Banks is the perfect setting for this sexy new thriller!

This book was sheer fun!

I'd like to say it was a guilty pleasure, but I don't feel guilty at all about it!

I loved the tantalizing dark cocktail of mystery, thriller, and sexy romance. Hate, to admit it, but I'm a sucker for the bad boy with something worth while behind all that swagger.

I've never been to the setting with the bayou and bank- but from the strong imagery, if I ever get to travel there, it will seem a bit familiar from this book which anchors the reader in a strong sense of time and place.

I'm afraid to say too much for fear of giving spoilers. This book was different, full of dark secrets and clever plans.

Best of all, this book let me vicariously enjoy the feel of being young, in a small town, with the push and pull dynamics of safety and fear. Teal and Dare are a blast- and I enjoyed the ride with Teal's friends and co-workers. My first job out of college so to speak as at a biker bar, so that setting evoked memories.

This book was great fun highly entertaining- and I'm not sure how it would be done, but perhaps a sequel?

5 Stars!!! (I wish I could rate it more)

10+++ stars Wow Chris Myers you hit a home run with this book!! Blackout is a must read! One of my favorite books of the year so far. My poor family was so upset with me when I started reading this book because I could not put it down. I was hooked from the first chapter.

I fell in love with the characters in this book; Dare, his brothers, Teal, Kami, and Graham. All of these characters weave themselves right into your heart. Teal and Dare take us on an emotional roller coaster that spans over ten years and in those ten years so much is lost. Your heart will break, heal, jump for joy and pound like a drum throughout this entire book. You will also find your self with no fingernails left because the suspense will cause you to plow right through them. I sat on the edge of my couch through most of the book. I am still thinking about this book and its been a couple of days.

Even though this is a bit of a mystery story, Chris still gives us a wonderful love story with some steamy love scenes. We also get plenty of angst in this one, which at times made me want to throw my kindle across the room. Teal and Dare needed their heads knocked together. They drove me crazy (in a good way of course). This demonstrates Chris Myer’s ability to draw the reader right into the story and keep you stuck to the pages.

This book is so different from her Lennon’s Girl Trilogy and yet I loved it just as much. I am such a huge fan of Chris Myers and would highly recommend this book to anyone. If you have not picked up a one of her books this book would be a great start.

Something bad happened to Teal in the swamp when she was eight, but she can't remember what, and every time she gets close to remembering--or gets near the swamp--she blacks out. Young, handsome Dare was involved somehow, and he's been paying for it ever since, even though Teal is pretty certain Dare would never do anything bad to her. Now that they are young adults, their paths cross again and sparks fly. Whenever they're near each other, there's danger--and a whole lot of sexual chemistry. After only a few pages, I felt I knew these characters. I cared about them and wanted to know what would happen next. Will Teal black out at the wrong time and end up raped or worse? Will Dare get in trouble with the law, or with Teal's father, when he just wants to protect Teal? Will they give into their sexual desires, and if so, who'll be hurt in the fallout? I also kept turning pages to unravel the mystery of what happened to Teal in the swamp, what Dare had to do with it, and how Teal's absent mother may have been involved. There's lots of tension--sexual and otherwise--that will keep you on the edge of your seat. A fast, fun, sexy read. Highly recommended.

BLOG REVIEW: http://chaibooks.blogspot.ca/2015/05/review-blackout.html?m=1

Blackout is a physiological thriller, a romance, a mystery book all rolled into a New Adult format. It was a very interesting book that had a compelling premise. There is a great romance and a lot of cool physiological aspects. There is a fantastic, dark mystery that we get to explore, limited by our protagonist's memory loss. However, I found that a lot of potential was lost with the book as I found a couple problems with it.

Let's start with the good. The ambiance was executed very well. The unease and disquiet of an unfinished mystery in this town is definitely exemplified through the writing. The murder story that we only receive bits and pieces of throughout the book keep the story interesting and thrilling. It was much like a "whodunit." The narrative was engaging. The wrap-up in the end was very well done, bringing all the pieces and clues together to form a shocking and satisfying conclusion. The romance was steamy and passionate, and I did enjoy the relationship of Dare and Teal. I always looked forward to those scenes.

Some of the problems I found with the book was mostly to do with the characters. Most, if not all, of the characters were very flat and static, most of the supporting characters were just flat out stereotypes. Our protagonist, Teal, is a very typical "girl-next-door-turned-hot" character. I was annoyed with her at times by her ignorance to how attractive she is. Literally, every man she sees hits on her and she get's embarrassed and blushy every time. Her character was not very believable at all. Also, many of her decisions were pretty dumb. (*Spoilers: Her arm is broken and she decides to drive a car!
