Format: Board book
This book features three boys going to the moon. Not one girl. So, if you don't mind conveying to your girl or boy that only boys can be astronauts, then this book is fine. If you think we've advanced beyond 1969 and think that a girl could go to the moon too, then find another book.

My son, two years old, really loves this book! He enjoys pulling the tab to extend the rocked ship (the board book), and listens and asks questions when we read it. The simple facts given are great and the illustrations are nice too, for the most part.

My issues with it are that one, the pull out rock is hard to get out and I have to help my son with it. I don't know if other copies are this hard or not though. Secondly, the astronauts all look so much alike. They have different hair and that's it.

I still recommend "Blast Off to the Moon" for those looking for a book about astronauts, space and the moon for a todder. We like it much better than "I want to Be an Astronaut," by Byron Barton.
