Review

McIntyre's debut novel, ON THE GATHERING STORM was VOTED as one of the TOP 20 DEBUT AUTHORS --goodreads.com 2010 Choice Awards

"Bled is...about tolerance, desperation, sacrifice, and greed. McIntyre creates a dynamic set of double-sided characters, showing the good and evil in each. His scenes are vivid, creative, and brilliantly executed. And his writing is fearless." --Marni Mann, author of "Memoirs Aren't Fairytales"

"What [McIntyre] gives readers is a highly satisfying glimpse of a very real terror.--Ryne Douglas Pearson, screenwriter of "Knowing"

"[McIntyre] writes some of the most beautiful sentences being published today." --Vincent Zandri, author of "The Remains"

"Definitely felt like reading Neil Gaiman with occasional creepiness of Stephen King. Jason is my all-time favorite writer, his stories keep me up all night" --Evie Seo, Bookish Reviews

"A must read, but not for the faint of heart." --EZread.com

Jason McIntyre is easily becoming one of my absolute favorite authors. His work is truly thrilling and horrific, but not in an over the top gory kind of way. Its the kind that sneaks up around you, allowing your blood to run cold and your bones to chill. BLED is a fantastic story, easily the creepiest he's written in my opinion, and I often found myself holding my breath. Your heart will break and you will be angry. Very angry. But isn't that what a great author is supposed to do with their writing? Draw us into the story so much that, to a certain degree, we feel like it's happening to us? Jason McIntyre does that with BLED. You will not be disappointed if you invest in this book or this author.

This is my first time reading Jason McIntyre. WOW totally dark, creepy and raw. I could not read this fast enough yet there were times when I almost was afraid to look.

***Possible spoiler alert***

Jason McIntyre pulls all stops when it comes to writing, the scenes in the bathroom were so creepy like an old scary movie, where you watch but peek through your fingers because you have to look. Tina the waitress with the winning lottery ticket, I think I would of beat the hell out of Frank Moort without a second thought just because he was true scum. I felt every bit of her fear from not wanting to do what he asked to get her ticket back and the wild emotions running through her as each day passed and she still had not got the ticket back. The flash backs of her father and all the history surrounding the island that make a slap in the face come back at the end. Expect the unexpected is my final thoughts.

Fantastic writing, creepy wild ride like an old Hitchcock movie or Night Gallery. I look forward to reading more from Author Jason McIntyre.

Bled is a dark and gritty tale, filled with hope and desperation. True to style, Jason McIntyre allows us no comfort zone. We're pulled into the story and held there. Sometimes I wanted to look away from the destruction, but found myself unable to break the spell.

This is part of the Dovetail Cove series, but these books do not have to be read in any specific order. The characters and the setting are unforgettable, so be ready to come back for more.

Bled is not for the squeamish reader. It's hard to read and impossible to put down. I wanted so much for the main character to figure a way out of her mess, and for the author to reassure me everything was
going to have a happy ending. But true to life, she was kind of caught up in a mess of her own making, due to being raised poorly, and having absolutely no real world experience. There was a happy ending to this story, but
given her past Im not sure she won't squander that opportunity as well. Wonder if this could be a trilogy? Love how complex the characters are in every story this author writes. Thank you Jason McIntyre for writing with such skill and giving me something fabulous to read. ~kimba

Bled (Jason McIntyre)

"Teeny" Tina is a young waitress in Dovetail Cove, and Island town. She wants more than anything to get off the Island, out of her mothers house and make something of her life. She gets that opportunity, or so it seems, and then it is snatched away from.

She suffers a traumatic an frustrating ordeal, but she is determined to fight for what is hers, no matter what it takes.A dark psychological thriller. Written well you can feel every emotion that Tina is going through. Fantastic nail-biter. I look forward to reading the next Dovetail Cove book Shed (A Dovetail Cove Novella).

As a warning - this is not a light, easy read. Although there is no hint of the paranormal in it, the best description is probably suburban nightmare - the main character is forced into something that can only be considered horrific.

The subject matter is incredibly dark and has a graphic scene which a number of readers are going to find difficult to read; however what happens to Teenie is so integral to the story that skipping it would be a bad idea. In clumsier hands this would have just resulted in revulsion.
The revulsion is still there; but you can empathize and sympathize with this girl, forced into making a choice that she doesn't feel is a choice at all, and that's a testament to Mr. McIntyre's ability to pull you inside the characters. You feel like you know these people, and I was rooting for Teenie (how much bad luck can one girl have?)by the end of it.

The resolution - and pay-off is bitter-sweet, but makes perfect sense; with a great little twist I didn't see coming. I'm looking forward to entering this world again.

Bled is not for the delicate. It is a story containing situations that are both harsh and viscerally brutal. That said, if you can stomach the gruesome events, you will certainly be rewarded. The setting is vibrant, the characters are engaging, and the story is instantly captivating. It is a short book but it truly feels much larger. Perhaps it was Mr. McIntyre's perfect language, but his style lends to a feeling of reading a much longer work. There is plenty of backstory which creates a plotline that has a very grand scope. The stage has been set for a unique series that will please readers of psychological horror, crime, mystery, and suspense. I'm truly looking forward do delving into SHED, the next book in the Dovetail Cove Novella series, and will be anxiously awaiting further installments.
